Frederica Academy names new head of school
Frederica Academy has
named Greg Griffeth as its
next Head of School, effec
tive July 1, 2011.
Griffeth will succeed
Ellen Fleming, who is retir
ing after serving as Head
of School for the past seven
Greg Griffeth
years.
Griffeth graduated from
the Deerfield-Windsor
School in Albany, Georgia.
He has an undergraduate
degree in Biology from the
University of Georgia and a
MS degree in Biology from
Vanderbilt University. In
2005, Griffeth completed
the Khngenstein Fellowship
program at Teachers Col
lege, Columbia University,
earning a MS degree in Pri
vate School Leadership.
In 2008, he was appointed
the Upper School Principal
at The Barstow School, a
highly-regarded college pre
paratory school in Kansas
City, Missouri. Before mov
ing to Barstow, he spent
12 years at the Darlington
School in Rome, Georgia. At
Darlington, he held a vari
ety of positions of increasing
responsibility that included:
teacher, football coach, track
coach, Head
of House and
Dean of Stu-
| dents.

Throughout his educa
tional career, Griffeth has
maintained a presence in
the classroom teaching
AP Biology, Environmen
tal Science, Chemistry,
and most recently Ethics
and Leadership.
His professional mis

student strengths are cul
tivated. To educate beyond
the classroom with high
expectations and uncondi
tional love. To teach stu
