Provided photo Health System announces Leadership Promotion Southeast Georgia Health System is announces the promotion of Chris ty D. Jordan, vice president, general counsel/government relations, to chief operating officer and general counsel. In addition to retaining respon sibilities as general counsel for the Health System’s management team and boards, Jordan will provide lead ership in the implementation of the Health System’s strategic initiatives and to the vice presidents for ancil lary clinical services, general support services and the Camden Campus. “We are in the midst of some de manding times with our master renovation and expansion of the Brunswick Campus, which will un doubtedly create some unique opera tional challenges over the course of the next three years,” said Michael D. Scherneck, president and CEO, Southeast Georgia Health System. “And, of course, our expectations remain high with regard to the core day-to-day service, quality and finan cial aspects of our operations.” Scherneck said, “In light of these significant considerations as well as our need to continue to plan strategi cally for our future, I am very pleased that Christy has accepted the new position of chief operating officer.” Jordan joined Southeast Georgia Health System in 2012 as staff at torney, served as the director of Risk Management and assistant general counsel from 2012-2014 and was the vice president, general counsel / government relations for four years prior to her appointment as chief op erating officer and general counsel. Prior to joining the Health Sys tem, Jordan was in private practice for eight years with nationally rec ognized health law practices, most recently with Arnall Golden Greg ory, and represented hospitals and health systems and a variety of other provider organizations and entities that invest in or otherwise support the health care industry. Jordan holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in PDA' Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia and maintains her licensure as a registered nurse. Jordan was named to Georgia Trend Magazine’s “Legal Elite” for Healthcare Law in 2017 and to the Becker’s Hospital Review 50 Health care Leaders Under 40 in 2016. She has served as president of the Geor gia Academy of Healthcare Attorneys and is currently on the executive committee of the State Bar of Geor gia’s Health Law Section. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Health Lawyers Associa tion and the Georgia State Bar. Jor dan is also an emeritus board mem ber of Hospice of the Golden Isles and is a frequent speaker to commu nity and legal groups on health care issues. Linda !
