A Wise Judge.
Seven young boys were taken
before a judge in Baltimore the
other day, charged with ridiauiiug
and annoying an old woman of the
neighborhood who does not under
stand English
The judge might have sent them
to a reformatory, or put them in
charge of a probation officer, or let
tham of with a scolding and a
th rent of d>re consequences if they
see brought before Him again.
But ho was wiaer than the ave
rage judge.
He proceeded witli due form
and ceremony to swear in each of
the seven lads as a special police
officer whose sole du-y it would
bs to protect the old woman from
insu't and injury.
Then he told then how Hercules
learned to treat every woman as a
’mother and every girl as a sister.
