Three Bills Passed
House of Rep., Atlanta. Go.
Ji) I j 17, 1925.
To the citiz»ns of Miller Co:
I take much pleasure in inform
ing that I have oeen successful in
pawing three bills of mcch ira
portanoe to you ns tax payers, and
that the Gov signed bis approval
to them today at 2;30 o’clock, said
bills becoming effective Sept. 1,
1925
House bill no. 55, abolishis g
the City Court of Mill rcoun’y.
House bill no. 232, amen ling
the act or.ating the board of com
missioners of roads end revenues.
1. By prohibiting tlie culling ol
any NEW roads from Sept 1,1925
to Sept. 1, 1929.
2. By'prohibiting them from is
suing more county warrants in any
one year than their revenue paid
in during that fisical year.
3. By prohibiting their author
ity coming in conflict with tin
county road superintendent’s au
thority and duties.
4. By limiting the county as
sessments of county taxes to 20
mills, a reduction of 7 mills from
het year.
House bill no. 233, establishing
a county road superintendent, nam
ing E. B. Jones as superintenden l
until Jan. 1, 1929, at which tier
said superintendent will be elect
ed by the voters of said county, as
all other officers are elected. Hit
bond being $5000.00, and bis sal
ary being $150.00 per month
Without a thought, you’ll think
that very high, but after consider
ing the hundreds, yes, the thous
ands of dollars, which will be saved
you tax payers by establishing n
road superintendent, aud placing
him under bond, the salary will
seem very insignificant, as you, no
doubt, know that up oue is uudei
bond nor oath, for their responsi
bility as to handling the present
road system, and the buying of tin
necesities for said county, roads
and county convicts
You, through the county papers,
will be furnished with a copy ol
the county road
bill, which will fully explain, so
look out for your pa; er, as I can’t
asy right now, exactly what dat*
it will come out.
1 want you to read the bill and
whatch it dot n, and note the
thousands of dollars it will save
you.
Respectfully,
SETH WILKIN,
Rep Miller Co.
