Mr Wilkin
Still In Hospital
Saturday the surgeons at the
Riverside Hospital made an incis
ion to ascertain the exact trouble
with Mr J S. Wilkin of tins city
They found that his intense
sufferings were caused by a cancer;
but they deemed it beet not to re
move it by any surgical operation.
The patient is seriously ill and
he is very weak; but we are glad
to announce that there is a chance
for him to passthrough this ordeal
and be partially restored to his
health.
He remains cheerful and is very
hopeful.
His wife stays in Bainbridge
near him; and his ton and h>
three daughters go contantly to
Bainbridge to learn his exact con
dition.

A Confederate
Soldier Dies
Thursday night after a long ill'
ness induced by the infirmities ol
old age, Mr Robert Brown passed
away at the home of his son, Mr
0, R. Brown.
He was among those men who
‘'wore the gray'’ in the Civil War.
He is survived by two daugh
ters, Mesdames \V. VV. Phillips
and Ida Folds and by the son, Mr
C. H. Brown, with whom he made
his home.
He leaves also two brothers, Mr.
T. T. Brown of this county and
Mr John Brown of Edison; and
one sister who resides in Ediso

tion Mr. Brown, daring his long
life won the good will of nearly all
with whom he came.in contact.

His body was interred in the
Belleview Cemetery Friday in the
presence of a large crowd of sym
pathizing friends.

daughter was berried here. Her
brother, Mr R W. Smith, died
