Girl Wins In
Spelling Contest
Over in Early, cotintv, a bun

The papers showed that Alist-
Willie Toole, first assistant in tin

mark in the county, so Mrs. Jones
announced.
When it is known that several
teachers, holding degrees from
leading colleges, misspelled mor
words than this Colquitt girl, the
honor is something to be appreci
ated. She missed only four of the
difficult words on the list, thereby
making 96 p-r cent, leading tb
county.

A New
Born Baby
Boy Found
On arising Monday morning a
baby, said to have received not
one bit of attention since its birth,
found at the frontdoor, on the
piazza, at tbe home of Mr. and
Mrs. J. W. Merritl.
It is Said that car tracks, show
ing where a car had stopped near
the attoactive residence, was the
only clue found, ane it was soon
completely lost in the road. It is
also stated that Sunday afternoon
a handsome car was seen to pass

MisS Rawlings
A large crowd of yeuug people
gather at tbe attractive home of
Mr. and Mrs. E. W.• Rawlings, on
Cuthbert street, Friday evening,
and enjoyed a party given com
plimentary to the senior class of
"U. H. S, of which the bostese,
Miss Alarguerite Rawlings, is a
popular member.
Games and dancing were enjoy
ed till a late hour.
The dainty refreshments con
siste of punch, cake and cream.
Those attending the delightful
affair left under many obligations

Visitor Passes Away
At 7:45 o’clock this, (Wednes
day) morning, the soul of Mrs
Sallie Easom, the widow of the
late Jesse Easom, left its tenement,
after an illness of about twenty
eight hours. She died here at tie
home as Mr. I. B. Bush, her broth
er, now the only one of left of a
Urge family.
Mrs. Easom, who was seventy
one years of age, came Friday to
spend a week with tbe family ot
her ouly brother. Since tbe death
of her husband she bad lived a
the old homestead, live miles from
Donalsonville, in Early county,
with one ot her daughters, Airs
