Passes Away
•
Nearly forty years ago, when
thrilled by the roseate iusnirations
of girlhood, the editress met and
loved her parents’ nearest neigh
bor, Mrs. Martyn Franklin.
The late Mrs. Morgan Brown,
the mother of ye scribe, the editress
and Mrs, W. J. Pridgen were al
most the only teachers guiding the
educational work of the children
cf Mr. and Mrs. Franklin. This
work saemed to strengthen the ties
of friendship.
Monday, after a few days illness,
this noble wife and mother passed
away, at the home of her husband,
in Eldorendo.
Her sons and one daughter were
near her bedside when summons
was received. An invalid daugh
ter, Mrs. J. G. Powell, was moved
from the home a few days ago to
the Bainbridge Hospital. Noone
is allowed to tell her of her moth

Mr, and Mrs. J. B. Franklin, of

Crime Reduced
EARLY COUNTY GRAND
JURORS COMMEND JUDGE
YEGMANS FOR AIGH STAND.
“Ons investigation in to matters
of various infractions of law in the
different sections of the county
has led us to the conclusion that
crime is less prevalent in for
mer years, and that our citizens as
a whole are making real strides
along the line of moral elevation.
However, there still remains
among some of our prominent citi
zens that spirit of condoning atid
screening criminals, particularly
in the violation of the prohibition
law, which without a doubt in the
mind of this body is the greatest
evil with which we have to com
bat. Our boys and girls of tender
years are sometime dragged into
shame and debauchery by the
boot-legger and shine-mokere who
are allowed to peddle their wares.
We desire to thank Hie Honor,
Judge M. J. Yeomans, for bis able
charge to this body, end oom mend
him for bis vigorous stand for the
elevation of mankind to high
planes of living.”—From General
Presentments April Term 1926*.
