we’re going to be tough,” said

gotten the kind of leadership
we need to make us go."
“And,” said Veal, “you
can’t fault any of the players
— they’ve played real hard,
but it's rare that you get a
leader in a group of young
players like this when the
talent is spread so evenly."
The Bears lost to Georgia

The Mercer Bears “Youth
Movement” got "together”
Tuesday night and did their
own thing, caging an unsus
pecting Panthers team from
La Grange College, 106-76.
The win was the first of
the year and the smiling faces
of the coaches, players and
fans exhibited a sigh of relief.
The young but talented squad
had lost their first four games
of the year, and the victory
set the Bears on the right
track for the Second Annual
Mercer Invitational Tourney
(which will have been played
by the time you read this).
However, when you look at
the Bears opponents in two of
those four ball games you can
hardly be ashamed of their
1-4 record. Coach Wilder’s
squad lost games to the fourth
and seventh ranked teams in
the nation (as of the January
6th poll). North Carolina and
Jacksonville.

AT THE
SHERATON MOTOR INN
IF YOU START TONIGHT
you will be reading at least three times faster by March first. If you are
a student, we will teach you to read your textbooks three to ten times
faster with improved comprehension and retention. If you are a professor
or dean we will teach you how to read all the reports, periodicals, and
memos that you should be reading. If you need to read for any reason,
we will show you how to do it much faster and more enjoyably. Do
it tonight.
YOU CAN DO IT TONIGHT
We want you to decide for yourself the value of becoming a rapid
reader through the Evelyn Wood reading techniques. For the first time
we are offering a special one hour introductory mini-lesson to provide
you with a glimpse of what it's like to be a rapid reader. You'll find
that there is no particular skill in being a speed reader . . . the only
ingredient Is mastering the proper techniques.
The late President Kennedy was sufficiently convinced of its value to
invite Evelyn Wood to the White House to train his entire staff. The
only investment on your part is one hour of your time.
