From the Charleston Courier. “THOU’KT WITH ME IN NIGHTLY DUE AMS.” DIJjAIUON ILARLAN'D. Tbou'rt nightly dream?, The of the day. Their and dewy light, Hare passGffTirom heart and brain away. They’re gone as birds of summer wing, F A hurried flight at winter’s chill, ’ To find in distant, genial climes, Perfume and warmth and music still. Vet gentle, lay-liko visions dance, To dreamy music round my couch, ‘wP A darkly buried past up-springs. Glowing with life beneath thy touch. High diver clouds their incense raise, All sweets that past once held for mo. (Sweots which have turned to wormwood since They bring me love, and hope, and thee. Thee! not as at our parting seen, Tn friendly guise that mocked the while, And mein so free, thou could’st not dream, Os the heart that broke beneath thy smile. But, with deep eyes all lit with love, Such tremulous, mysterious gleam. As shimmers through the lucent wave. Os an Indian diamond-bedded stream I know but love, as round my band I felt thy warm, soft lingers twine ; Love quivers in the full, rich lip That passionately lights on mine Some half formed words of tenderness Are breathed—not spoken—in my ear ; My heart lies still lest its quick throb. Should drown one note of sound so dear. Why should’st thou come ? on this cold heart Why fall spring flowers of mem’ryV rain? The young blooms smiling from tho earth, The frost will soon cut down again. The frost which thou did’st leave- though night. Show here and there a verdant spot. A NEW METHOD. ,4 MOST wonderful discovery has recently been J\ . made by Dr. CURTIS,for the cure of Asthma, Consumption, Bronchitis, Coughs, Colds, and all Lung Complaints, by Medicated Inhalation. Dr. Curtis’s Ilygeana, or Inaling Tlygenn Vapor and Cherry Syrup, has accomplished the most wonder ful cures of Asthma and Consumption in the City of New York and vicinity for a few months past, ever known to man. It is producing an impression on Diseases of the Lungs never before witnessed by the medical profession. [See certificates in hands of Agents. | The Inhaler is worn on the breast, under the linen, without tbe least inconvenience, tbe heat of the body being sufficient to evaporate the fluid,— supplying the lungs constantly with a healing and agreeable vapor, passing into ail the air-cells and passages ofthe lungs that cannot possibly be reach ed by any other medicine. Here is a cure of ASTHMA CURED. Brooklen, N. Y., Dec. 20th, 1853. For about eight years I have been severely af flicted with the Asthma: for the last two years I have suffered beyond all my powers of descrip tion ; months at a time I have rot been able to sleep in a bed. getting what rest I could sitting in my chair. My difficulty of breathing, and my suf ferings, were so great at times, that for hours to gether my friends expected each hour would be my last. During the past six y;*ars I have had the aid and attendance of some of the most celebrated physicians, but have received no permanent ben efit. and but little relief. Tat length had the good fortune to procure Dr. Curtis's Ilygeana or Inhal ing Ilygean Vapor and Cherry Syrup. At the time I first obtained it, I was suffering under one of my most violent attacks, and was in great distress, almost suffocating for want of breath. In less than ten minutes from the time I applied the Tnhftler to my stomach, and took a teaspoonful ofthe Cherry Syrup, I was relieved in a great measure from the difficulty of breathing, and had a comfortable night. I came to New-York in the ship Telegraph ; my native placois St. John, New Brunswick ; when I reached this city, my health was very poor; had a very bad cough, raised a good deal of matter, which was frequently mixed with blood ; had pain in my left side, and was very weak and emaciated. My friends and physician pronounced my case Con sumption, and beyond the reach of medicine. I accidentally heard of Dr. Curtis's Ilygeana, or In haling Ilygean Vapor and Cherry Syrup and ob tained a package, which T verily believe was the mcADBof saving my life. Soon'after wearing the Inhaler, I found it relieved the pressure on my lungs, and after a while the disease made its ap pearance upon the surface under the Inhaler. I took the Cherry Syrup as directed, and continued to do so. my cough gradually growing better, until it entirely left me, and I now consider myself cured. I still wear the Inhaler, as the use of it is rather pleasant, and believing it strengthening and purifying to the lungs, T feel unwilling at present to dispense with it JOHN WOOD. Aug. 4,1853. J. C. Ayee. Dear Sir, —My little son, four years old lias just recovered from a severe attack of mal ignant Scarlet Fever, his throat wm rotten, and every person that visited him, pronounced him a dead child. Having used your Cherry Pectoral in California, in the winter of 1850, for a severe attack of Bronchitis, with entire success, I was induced to try it on my little boy. I gave him a tea-spoon-full every three hours, commencing in the morning, and by ten o’clock at night, I found a decided change for the better, and after three days use, be wns able to eat or drink without pain. Its use in the above named disease will save many a child from a premature grave, and relieve the anxiety of many a fond parent.—For all affec tions of the Throat and Lungs, I believe it the best medicine extant. A feeling of the deepest grati tude, prompts me in addressing you these lines, — but for your important discovery, my little boy would now have been in another world. I am yours, with great respect, mt J. D. POWELL, Supt. Trans., L. R. R. Rock Hill, (Somerset C 0.,) N. J. July 21,1852. Dr. J. C. Ayer. —Since your medicine lias be come known here, it has a greater demand than any other cough remedy we have ever sold. It is spoken of in terms of unmeasured praise by those who‘have used it, and I know of some cases where the best they can say of it, is not too much for the good it has done. I take pleasure in selling it, be cause I know that I am giving my customers the worlh of their money, and I feel gratified in seeing the benefit it confers. Plcasesend me a further supply, and believe me Yours, with respect, JOHN. C. WHITLOCK. P.S. Almost any number of certificates enn be sent you, if you wish it. Windsor, C. W., June 20,1852. J. 0. Ayf.y, Sir; This may certify thatl have used your Cherry Pectoral for upwards of one year ; and it is my sincere belief thatl should have been in my grave ere this time if I had not. It has cured me of a dangerous affection ofthe lungs, and Ido not overstate my convictions when I tell you it is a priceless remedy. Yurs very respectfully, D. A. McCULLIN, Attorney at Law. Wilksbarre, Pa, September 28,1850. Dr. J. C. Ayer. My dear Sir, —Your medicine is much approved of by those who have used it here, and its composition is such as to insure and main tain its reputation. I invariably recommend it for pulmonary affections, as do many of our principal physicians. I am your friend, CIIAS. STRKATER.M. D. PREPARED BY J. C. AYER. CHEMIST, LOWEI L, MASS. LW. There has long existed a public demand for an effective purgative pill which could be relied on as sure and perfectly safe in its operation. This has been prepared to meet that demand, and an exten sive trial ol its virtues has conclusively shown with what success it accomplishes the pnrpose de signed. It i.s easy to make a physical Pill , but not easy to make the best of all Pt'Ws—ene which should have none of the objections, but all tbe advantages of every other. This hns been attempted here, and with what suecess we would respectfully submit to tho public decision. It lias been unfortunate for the patient hitherto that almost every purgative medicine is acrimonious and irritating to the bow els. This is not. Many of them produce so much griping pain and revulsion in the system as to more than counterbalance the good to be derived from them. These pdU produce no irritation or pain, unless it arise from a previously existing ob struction or derangement in tbe bowels. Being purely vegetable, no harm can arise from their use in any quantity ; but it is better that any medi cine should be taken judiciously. Minute direc tions for their use in the several diseases to which they are applicable are given on the box. Among the complaints which have been speedily cured by them, we may mention Liver Complaint, in its var iousforms of Jaundice, Indigestion, Languor and Loss of Appetite, Listlessness, Irritability, Bilious Headache, Bilious Fever, Fever and Ague, Bain in the Side and Lions, for, in truth, all these are but the consequence of diseased action in the liver. As an aperient, they afford prompt and sure re lief in Costiveness,Pileß, Colic. Dysentery, Humors, Scrofula and Scurvy, Colds, with soreness of the body, Ulcers and impurity ofthe blood; in short, any and every case where a purgative is required- They have also produced some singularly sue cessful cures in Rehumatism,Gout,Dropsy, Gravel. Erysipelas, Palpitation of the Heart, Pains in the Back, Stomach, and Side. They should be freely taken in the spring of the year, to purify the blood and prepare the system for the change of seasons. An occasional dose stimulates tho stomach and bow els into healthy action.and restores tbe appetite and vigor. They purify the blood, and, by their stimulant action on the circulatory system, reno vate the strength ofthe body, and restore the wast ed or diseased energies ot the w-hole organism. Hence an occasional dose Ih advantageous even though no serious derangement exists ; but unne cessary dosing should never bo carried too far, as every purgative medicine reduces tho strength, when taken to excess. Tho Thousand cases in which a physic is required cannot be enumerated here, but they suggest themselves to the reason of every body; and it is confidently believed this pill will answer a better purpose than any thing which has hitherto been available to mankind. When their virtues are once known the public will no longer doubt what remedy to employ when in need of a cathartic medicine. Being sugar wrapped they are pleasant to take, and being purely vegetable, no harm can arise from their use in any quantity. For minute directions, see the wrapper on the Box. Prepared by James C. TWENTY YEARS OE EXPERIENCE In the treatment of a class of diseases hitherto neglected and imperfectly understood, has enabled Dr. KINKELIN ( Author of a work on self pre serration,) to prove that nine tenths of the causes of nervous debillity, local and constitutional weak ness, mental physical suffering, are tracable to cer tain habits, forming the most secret yet deadly and fatal springs of domestic misery andprema tvt mortality. TAKE PARTICULAR NOTICE. There is an evil habit sometimes indulged in b> boys, in solitude, often growing up with them to manhood, and which, if not reformed in due time, not only begets serious obstacles to matrimonial happiness, but gives rise to a series of protracted, insidious, and devastating affections. Few of those who give way to this pernicious practice are aware of the consequences, until they find the ner vous system shattered, feel strange and un account able feelings and vague fears in the mind. The unfortunate thus become feeble, is unable to labor with accustomed vigor, or to apply his mind to study; his step is tardy and weak, he is dull, irresolute, ana engages in his sport with less ener gy than usual. If he emancipate himself liefore the practice has uoneits worst, and enter matrimouy, bis marriage if unfruitful, and his sense tells him that this is caused by his early follies. These are cousidera* tions which should awaken the attention of those similarly situated. Marriage? requires the fulfillment of conditions, in order that it may be really the cause of mutual happiness. Gould the veil which covers the orrigin of domestic wretchedness be raised, and its true source iu every instance disclosed—in how many could it be traced to physical disqualifications end theh attendant disappointments!
