Col. J. V. Edge, our former Ordinary, 1 has filed a certificate with Judge Cooper to the t fleet that when the farm was to lie let, on the first Tue»- , day in January, Mr. J. M. Heaton was the only one who put in a bid; that after that time, other bids were put it, but not being in time could not be considered, and that he thought Mr. Heaton entitled to the position of overseer, at the bid be put in. We are glad Co! Edge has so promptly settled this matter, for Mr. Heaton has made a most acceptable superintendent o'” the farm, keeps the inmates comfortable, -md has everything around the pla.e in a neat, ship-shape order. *t would certainly have been a great i justice to Mr. Heaton to turn him adrift at this time of year. He was cirtainly under the impressi ju that he had se cured the place, in fact says it was a positive u iders’anding, am! had made all his arrangements for the year. We repeat, we are glad Col.
