There is preaching day and night

The formal opening of the rew
Kimball house, which occurs next
Thursday night, promises to be the
most brilliant social event ever hav
ing taken place in Atlanta. The
occasion deserves such a celebration
and should have the goed will and
encouragement of every citizen of
Atlanta, and all who can, should
avail themselves of the opportunity
of attending.
Mrs. Tom Woods, living near
Lafayette, had a strange visitor to
spend the night with her a few days
since—u turkey buzzard. Going into
an unused room she found it very
quitely and peaceably perched upon
the head of the bed. The men iiad
been burning off the woods the day
before up above the house, and it is
thought’ he became frightened or
overcome in some way, and in the
evening took refuge in the house.
Jackson Argus: A rather singular
circumstance oceured in the neigh
borhood of Stark, in this county, a
fthort time <>go. It appears that a|
certain family had a worthless dog
and wished to get rid of it. One
of the gir's of the family took a maul
and crushed the dog’s head and
threw the carcass into an old well,
where it remained some three weeks
and had almost been forgotten. A
few days ago the dog walked into
the house and stopped immediately
in front of the girl that had mashed
its head, pre enting the evidence of
its harsh treatment, the skull crush
ed and the brains oozing from the
wound. At the sight of the dog,
the old lady fainted and the girl
sprang up on the middle of the bed,
in her lri>*ht, at the pittiful looking
animal that all supp sed to Ih dead,
and at the bottom of a deep well.
Quite an amusing episode occur
ed in the grand jury room at Amer
icus Wed’y. One of the most clever
and prosperous farmers of the coun
ty was brought before the grand jury
to testify against some you- g men
who had been indicted for playing
poker for money. He proved to be
a perfect “know ntthing.” At the
conclusion of his testimony he asked
to address tht jury. Drawing from
his pocket a hand book he stated he
was trying to organize a Sunday
school in his settlement, and he
wanted each of the eanv st workers
tor morality present to j;ive him 25
cents towards advancing the good
cause. 11? says he did not mevt with
much encouragement to assure the
succe-s of his Sunday schcol ven
ture.

I have bad a most distressing case
of inherited scrofula for the last thir
ty years, which has been under treat
ment of many of our best known phys
icians without any visible effect, but
wns relieved by the use of Swift’s
Specific. lam sure if any one will
give this medicine a patient, faithful
trial it will give them the same relief,
for my case was regarded almost
hopeless by many. Os course, it
would not take the same time or quan
tity for a younger person or the dis
ease in earlier stages. Even if it did
not postively cure (which is almost
impossible in cases of inherited afflic
tion), it will give you renewed
strength, flesh,vitality even, although
, reduced to a “confirmed invalid” as
was my condition.
For children v.hG are weak, subject
’ to colds, especialy those inclined to
catarrh, or for any skin eruption, I
consider it infal’ible. As a general
, household remedj,itis unequalled.
I wish it was in my power to do justice
to this wonderful medicine. It has
done so much for me, I feel I can
never repay my debt of gratitude.
