Thereare now seventeen person*

nine of whom are at the pauper home,
and eight in different parts of the
county with their families or
friends.
The colored boys at Jonesville,
near the corporate limits of Mariet
ta have organized a brass hand, and
rn’honor of the first Democratic
President since emancipation have
named it the “Cleveland L ind.
jt sensation bas been created at At
lanta, m de over the fact that a well
to Jo coal dealer named J. V. Greer
i<charged with making his blind
son, about 30 years eld, sleep in the
cow stable without proper food or
clothing. A stepmother is said to
be responsible.
The belled buzzard was seen
* wear Fairburn last week by J. B.
Bishop and others about a mile
below town Mr.. Bishop beard the bell,
and thought the calves were in his
corn, and on going to drive them out
routed his buzztrdsbip, which he
found was creating the distur
bance.
Richard Swann, of Fairburn had
been in the habit of making weekly
trips to Atlanta with a number of
jugs, which be would have filled for
thirsty residents of th? town who di I
not believe in prohibition. Saturday
night, as he went to board the train,
he fell beneath the wheels and one
arm and one leg were mangled.

President Cleveland does not take
any stock in the abuse that certain
politicians and newspapers are heap
ed upon Secretary Bayard. He has
spoken out in meeting, and declared
that Mr. Bayard is one of the most
conscientious and useful members < f
the Cabinet. Ivery unprejudiced
person who has wa'ched Mr. Bayard’s
course will say “amen” to that state
ment.
we learn from Mr. w. A. Badgett
that willis McLendon, aged seventy
six, who liyed near Carrollton, was
drowned at Holland s mill last
Wednesday. His mind was affected,
and it is sup,- sed that h - fell Into
the pond. The coroaeds jury decided
that he came to his death by unin
tentional drowning. # .
Mr. McLendon was the origina
tor of the famous McLendon cot
ton seed.
Malcolm Monroe, twelve years old,
•on of Mr. Ben Monroe, living .six
miles north of Buchanan, was drown
ed Wednesday afternoon in his fathers
mill pond on Tallapoosa river. He
and some other boys were rov.ing a
osuoe and he fell overboard. Mr.
Frank E tripling*« little son, two years
old. wm drowned the same afternoon.
The child attempted follow some
older children who had gane fishing,
and when found had been dead tome
time.—Constitution.
Mr. Stripling is a brother-in-law to
Hon. J. M Mcßride, senator from
HaraUon. and also to Col. Jack Mc-
Bride, of Atlanta, the Grocery prince
of the south.

I suffered with rheum at i m for
many months, at times unable to
walk or get about only on erntnhes.
I took eight bottles of Swift’s Spe
ciic, and have been entirely re
Jieved.

For many years I have been
troubled with a scrofulous affection.
My right leg was covered with sores
from the hip to the ankle—some of
them hr ire and painful, running a
great .deal,. I tried everything I
could think of or friends cm Id sag
ged. The physicians did what
they could, bin brought no perma
nent rJief. My case was well known
in this community, as we'l as the
fetrfll sufferings I endured. Liat
fall, at the suggestion of a friend, 1
I began the u-ie of .Swift’s Specific. |
It produced a change so apparent I
that it astonished everybody, as one
nicer after another disappeared,
and none were more astonish'd than
rnyeelf. Six bottles produced an en
tire cure. My rvstoratijn is due
entirely to the use of this medicine,
his tin first Mood purifier in the
world, and will oome nearer doing
wbat l« claimed for it than any med
idee I have ever tried.
