Burroughs, 80, of Hull, died
Wednesday, December 31,
2008.
A native of Clarke County,
she was the daughter of the late
Leon C. and Jenny B. Lester
and was preceded in death by
her husband, Spurgeon West
Burroughs.
Survivors include a son and
daughter-in-law, Spurgeon
“Pete” Burroughs Jr. and Lisa
Burroughs, Hull; grandson,
Spurgeon III (Trey) Burroughs,
Hull; granddaughter, Emily
Taylor Burroughs, Hull; and
sister, Jane Drake, Atlanta.

Charlie Bridges, 88, of

Bom in Madison County, he
was the son of the late Nim
Hawkins and Kate Meadow
Bridges. He was a member
of Forrest Heights Baptist
Church and was retired from
Westinghouse.
Survivors include his wife,
Lois Irvin Bridges; a sister,
Grace Spearman, Greenville,
S.C.; brothers, Marvin
Bridges, Danielsville, Calvin
Bridges, Comer; and a number
of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, January 3, 2009,
at Lord & Stephens Funeral

Donald Lord, 70, of
Nicholson, died Monday,
December 29, 2008, at Athens
Regional Medical Center in
Athens.
Bom in Madison County, he
was the son of the late William
French and Almera O" Kelly
Palmer. He was a retired truck
driver and a veteran, having
served in the United States Air
Force.
Survivors include his wife,
Frances Nevelyn Kennebrew
Lord, Nicholson; a daughter,
Dana Lynn Moore, Commerce;
son, Keith Lord, Nicholson;
brother, Harry Palmer,
Watkinsville; and two grand
children.

Wednesday, December 31,
in the chapel of Little-Ward
Funeral Home with the Revs.

Faye Dora Hill Carey, 72,
of Danielsville, died Tuesday,
December 30, 2008, at her
residence.
Bom on May 9, 1936, in
Franklin County, she was the
daughter of the late Tyrus
Clifford (T.C.) and Ruby
Lankford Hill. She was a
tax professional and was a
member of the Shiloh Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her
husband, Mitchell Carey,
Danielsville; a daughter,
DiAnne Carey, Danielsville;
granddaughters, Bonnie Stith
and Kerri Lynn Dove; great
grandchildren, Gracie Lynn
Dove and Nathan Dove.

Friday, January 2, in the cha

officiating. Burial was in the
Shiloh Baptist Church cem
etery.

Hailey Frances Argo

2009, at her residence.
Born in Franklin County
on August 4, 1945, she was
the daughter of the late
Dewey Jasper and Lillie Mae
Campbell Argo. She was a
seamstress and also worked
for Wilco-Hess, where she was
a Stuckey's Ambassador. She
attended the Bowman Church
of God.
Survivors include her hus
band, J.W. Abercrombie,
Royston; a son, John
Woodrow Abercrombie Jr.,
Royston; daughter, Melissa
Duncan, Carnesville; broth
ers, James Argo, Danielsville,
and Vandiver Argo, Dewy
Rose; sisters, Margaret Edins,
Danielsville, and Elizabeth
Pulliam, Dewy Rose; seven
grandchildren; and one great
grandchild.

Mrs. Varner was the sister-
in-law of Frances and Bruce
Armstrong of Hull.

L.C. Chambers, 69, of
Comer, died Thursday, January
1, 2009.
Bom on July 20, 1939,
he was the son of the late
Ralph and Ardell Chambers.
He was a member and dea
con of Macedonia Holiness
Church and was retired from
the Forestry Unit of Madison
County after 34 years. Mr.
Chambers was preceded in
death by a sister, Daisy Mae
Bailey; and a niece, Debra
Barber.
Survivors include his wife
of 49 years, Reba Chambers;
brother and sister-in-law,
Mickey and Hazel Chambers;
sister, Patricia Scarboro; niec
es, Teresa Hilbum, Tracy Dean
and Michelle Rice; several
great-nieces and nephews; and
beloved great-nephew, Bucky
Dean.
