Ministries is having their
annual spring clothes closet
in the church’s fellowship hall
on March 14, from 9-11 a.m.
Organizers say the closet is to
help families and individu
als in need of financial assis
tance. There will be cloth
ing for children and adults

Easter egg hunt on April 4th

•Gordon’s Chapel UMC
“put into practice what they
preach” when they reached
out to the folks in and around
Sanford community during
the recent snowstorm, mem
bers said, by opening up the
Sanford Community Center
and furnishing shelter, heat,
food, water, TV and satellite
reception to those who had
no electrical power. Others
helped by bringing in food
and cooking several meals. In
addition, there were those
who furnished games for the
kids so they would be enter
tained. GCUMC pastor Bill
Coaty would like to thank
all of those who participated
in helping church members
reach out to all those who
came to the center, includ
ing community members, fire
departments and EMC work
ers. “May God Bless each
and everyone of you,” church
members said.
•The first planning meet
ing of the Ministerial Senior
Banquet for Madison County
High School seniors will be
held Sunday, March 15, at
2:30 p.m. at Friendship Baptist
Church. This year’s banquet
will be held April 27 at 6 p.m.
at the MCHS cafeteria. The
banquet will include a nice
dinner followed by a music
program, with a special mes
sage presented, and a special
gift for each MCHS Senior
to take home, organizers said.
All churches are encouraged
to send at least two work
ing representatives from their
church interested in helping
plan and participate in pre
senting this banquet. Letters
were mailed to each church
seeking participation which
includes workers and contri
butions of $175 if possible
but all contributions will be
helpful and needed, organiz
ers said. Contributions should
be mailed to Madison County
Ministerial Senior Banquet in
care of Clayton Bryant, 2329
Hwy 106 N., Danielsville, GA
30633, or brought to the first
planning meeting.

•Moon’s Grove Baptist
Church will host a screen
ing of the movie “Fireproof,”
Friday, March 13, begin
ning at 7 p.m. The movie
is a 2008 production of
Sherwood Pictures, the mak
ers of “Facing the Giants,”
and “Flywheel.” Area couples
are invited to attend this pow
erful action-packed story of
a firefighter, his wife, and
a marriage worth rescuing,
church leaders said. This spe
cial showing of “Fireproof'
is a marriage enrichment
event, sponsored by Covenant
Marriage Ministry of Moon’s
Grove, and is free to the
public, organizers said. The
church is located at 1985
Moon's Grove Church Road.

•Anchor Church will hold
a “chickenque,” Saturday,
March 14, from 4-6 p.m.
Tickets are $7 each and plates
include a barbecue chicken
half, coleslaw, homemade
applesauce, bread, chips and
dessert. Plate will be available
for pick up at Bond’s Marine
on Hwy. 98. All proceeds will
go toward the new church
building fund, church lead

•Providence Baptist
Church will have a pork bar
becue Saturday, April 4, from
4 to 7 p.m. at the church.
Plates will be $8 each and
will include pork barbecue,
stew, bread and slaw, accord
ing to church officials. There
will also be a bake sale. The
money raised will be used
to pave the church parking
lot, church officials said. Call

•There will be a gospel
talent show to benefit the
American Cancer Society
Saturday, March 21, at 3
p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist
Church, 167 Dawkins Road,
in Royston. (Dawkins Road
is directly across from the
Bi-Lo Shopping Center.)
“Calling individuals, church
choirs, praise bands and acts
that are pleasing to the Lord
to participate in this fund-rais
er for vital cancer research,”
organizers said. In addition
to an assortment of talent,
there will also be the first
annual “Preacher Cook-Off.”
Organizers say plan now to
“come enjoy great food, an
assortment of baked goods
and specialties from surround
ing churches.”
“We have made much
progress in the fight against
cancer, but open hearts and
open wallets are needed to
assure that cancer will not
beat us,” organizers said. “If
you are unable to join us,
donations are gladly accepted.
One hundred percent of the
funds will go directly to can
cer research.”

ministry all about prayer,

clothes closet with children
and adult sizes of clothing
available. “We would like to
give these items to those who
need them,” church members

•Jones Chapel United
Methodist Church, will have
a chicken barbecue Saturday,
March 21, from 4-6 p.m.
at their family life center on
Hwy. 29 North (across from
Zeb’s Barbecue). Tickets are
$7 per plate, take out only,
organizers said.
•The Gospel Tabernacle,
Watson Mill Road, Carlton,
will have a gospel singing
Saturday, March 14, begin
ning at 7 p.m. Featured sing
ers will include The Joyful
Hearts and Whitehall Singers,
along with James Drake, Ken
Berry and Southern Travelers.
The concert is free, organiz
ers said, but a love offering
will be taken. “Come bring
a friend and enjoy a night of
good gospel music,” organiz

•The Springfield Church
of Comer will have its spring
revival services March 11, 12
and 13 at7:30p.m. nightly. The
guest pastor is Rev. William
Smith of Israel Missionary

•The Danielsville Gospel
Barn will host a benefit gospel
singing Saturday, March 14,
beginning at 2 p.m. Featured
singers for the event will be:
The Gospel Barn Singers, the
Stephens Sisters, The Kenny
Baker Family, MidnightPraise,
Borned Again, Paul Whitfield
and the Cornerstone Strings
of Praise. All proceeds from
the event will go to help Lois
Shelten with funeral expenses
for her son, organizers said.
