Michael Arnold
DANIELSVILLE-Michael
Lee Arnold, 62, died Thursday,
March 5,2009, at BJC Medical
Center in Commerce.
Born in Delaware County,
Ind., he was the son of the late
John T. Arnold and Juanita
Bernice Bradshaw Minish. He
was an auto mechanic.
Survivors include a son,
Michael Lee Arnold III,
Commerce; brother, Jeff
Arnold, Commerce; sisters,
Judith Banister, Danielsville,
Tenda White and Ila Sheridan,
both of Commerce.
The body was cremated and
no services were planned.
Little-Ward Funeral Home,
Commerce, was in charge of
arrangements.

‘Bobby’ Bailey
JEFFERSON - Robert
Milton Bailey, 86, long-time
executive of Jefferson Motor
Company and a World War
II veteran who flew over
“The Hump" from Burma to
China, died
Thursday,
March 5,
2009.
Born in
Jefferson,
he was the
son of the
late George
Wyatt and
Minnie
Caroline White Bailey. He was
a graduate of Martin Institute
and the University of Georgia.
Mr. Bailey served in the United
States Air Force during World
War II, eventually retiring as a
Lieutenant Colonel.
For 55 years, Mr. Bailey
held the Ford dealership,
Jefferson Motor Company,
and had remained active in
the firm until recently. He was
a former mayor of the City
of Jefferson, a past president
of the Jefferson Rotary Club,
and a life-long member of the
Jefferson First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of
60 years, Elizabeth Aderholt
Bailey; three sons and daugh
ters-in-law, Bob and Sue
Bailey, Lawrenceville, Jimmy
and Sylvia Bailey, Jefferson,
Tom and Leigh Bailey, Buford;
and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, March 7, at the First
Baptist Church of Jefferson
with Jon Appleton officiating.
Burial was in the Woodbine
Cemetery in Jefferson. Serving
as pallbearers were Tom
Taylor, Jim Joiner, Joe Martin,
Ray Bauerband, Nick Bledsoe
and Jackie Mack.

Barber, 66, has passed away.
Born in Clarke County, he
was the son of the late Theron
and Edna Mae Waddell Barber.
He was preceded in death by a
daughter, Angela Barber; and

Harold Barber.

daughter-in-law, Charlton and
Carol Barber, Nicholson; sis

A Gwinnett County native,
she was the daughter of the
late Bunyan Etheridge and
Peggy Joyce Everett Reynolds.
She had resided in Barrow
County most of her life, where
she served as secretary of B
& M Pallet Company, Inc., of
Statham. Mrs. Barnette was
preceded in death by a son,
Terry James Maughon; sis
ter, Debbie Lee; and brother,
Phillip Reynolds.
Survivors include her hus
band of 34 years, Charles
Barnette, Statham; children,

Blackburn, 86, died Tuesday,
February 24, 2009, at BJC
Nursing Center.
Born in Banks County on
January 11, 1923, she was the
daughter of the late Moore H.
and Mary Anna Black Scales.
She had been employed as
a Blue Bell seamstress and
was a member of Homer
Presbyterian Church. Mrs.
Blackburn was preceded in
death by her husband, Roy
Edward Blackburn; a grand
son, Randall Garrison; and
son-in-law, Calvin Franklin.
She enjoyed her cats and gar
dening in her spare time, loved
ones added.
Survivors include daughters,
Patricia Franklin, Joanna, S.C.,
Lynda Garrison and Sharon
Underwood, both of Homer,
Wanda Dale, Gillsville; son,
Keith Wilson, Homer; 12
grandchildren, two of which
were reared in her home,

Bell Barnes Jackson. She
was retired from Gainesville
Textile Mill and was a member
of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bussey was preceded in
death by her husband, Walter
O. Bussey Jr.; son, Michael
Jeffery Dorsey; and sister,
Essie Mae Huffman.
Survivors include sons

Gee Dodd, 86, died Thursday,

Horizons West Nursing Home
following a brief illness.
Born in Jackson County on
December 7, 1922, she was
the daughter of the late Beatty
and Mae Smith Gee. She
retired from Chicopee with 49
years of service and was of
the Baptist domination. Mrs.
Dodd was preceded in death
by her husband. Jack Dodd;
sisters, Nell Culpepper, Lois
Elrod, Woodie Cole and Ola
Alford.
Survivors include a son,
William Douglas Dodd,
Oakwood; daughter, Jackie
Forrester, Gainesville; brother,
Herman Gee, Jefferson; sis
ters, Dottie Nabors and Betty
Sosebee, both of Jefferson,
and Sylvia Underwood, Talmo;
grandsons, Frankie Dodd

“Papa” Hall Sr., 75, died
Thursday, March 5, 2009.
Born in Benson, N.C.,
June 4, 1933,
he was the
'i of the late
Leonard B.
and Eula Mangum Hall. He
graduated from East Carolina
University with a bachelor's
degree in 1961, and was of the
Baptist denomination. He was
a United States Air Force vet
eran, having served as a lieu
tenant in the Korean Conflict.
He retired with over 25 years
of dedicated service in man
agement with the Centers for
Disease Control. Mr. Hall was
preceded in death by his wife,
Wilma B. Hall.
Survivors include daugh
ters and sons-in-law, Denise
and Michael Hunt, Auburn,
and Jerri and Tony Mcllwain,
Dacula; son, James O. Hall Jr.,
Dacula; three grandchildren;
and one great-grandchild.

STATHAM - C.D. “Buck”
Holliday, 86, died Tuesday,
March 10, 2009.
Born in Barrow County,
he was the son of the late
Joseph and
Lillian Casper
Holliday. He
was the mayor
of Statham for 24 Vi years, was
a 50-year member of Statham
Masonic Lodge and the Statham
American Legion, was owner/
operator of Holliday Lumber
Company, and a member of
The Disciples of Christ. He
was a veteran, having served
in the United States Army dur
ing World War II. Mr. Holliday
was preceded in death by his
first wife of 42 years, Irma
Rodgers Holliday.
Survivors include his wife,
Patricia Holliday, Statham;
sons and daughters-in-law,
Chet and Pat Holliday, Statham,
and Don and Roxana Holliday,
Winder; daughter and son-in-
law, Sheila and Bill Brown,
Statham; seven grandchildren;
and 14 great-grandchildren.

of St. Anthony's Episcopal
Church, a volunteer for the
Helping Hands program at
Jefferson Elementary School
and made and repaired string
instruments. He portrayed
Father Christmas at many
events. He was retired as an
engineer from Athens Clarke
County and was a veteran, hav
ing served in the United States
Army, Vietnam. Mr. lanuario
was preceded in death by his
wife, Mary Ann lanuario. He
enjoyed woodworking and
restoring of antiques, loved
ones added.
Survivors include daughters,
Tonia McGrew, Lexington,
S.C., and Mary Ann Collins,
Bonaire; grandchild, Alexander
Johnson; brothers, Paul A.
lanuario Sr., Duncan, S.C.,

JEFFERSON - Mary Ann
lanuario, 60, died Friday,
March 6, 2009.
Born in Fulton County, she
was the daughter of James and
Wilma Brewer of Florida. She
was a member of St. Anthony's
Episcopal Church, a volunteer
for the Helping Hands pro
gram at Jefferson Elementary
School, a story teller for chil
dren, the genealogist for her
family, a Master Gardener
for the State of Georgia, and
an avid gardener of heirloom
varieties of flowers. She vol
unteered for many local orga
nizations and was a sweet-
spirited person who was loved
by many. She was a graduate
of North Augusta High School
in 1966 and a graduate of
West Georgia College as an
anthropologist. Mrs. lanuario
was preceded in death by her
husband, Tony lanuario.
Survivors include daughters,
Tonia McGrew, Lexington,
S.C., and Mary Ann C.
Collins, Bonaire; grandchild,
Alexander Johnson; brother,
James Reese Brewer III, New
Orleans, La.; and a sister, Jane
Brewer Brewster, Evans.
