Madison Co. residents in theatre production
Athens Little Playhouse will present
“A Bagful of Fables” Friday, March 27,
and Saturday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. and
Saturday, March 28, and Sunday, March 29,
at 2 p.m. at the historic Seney-Stovall Chapel
in Athens.
The production is directed by long
time Madison County resident Phillip
Baumgamer and features the talent of local
Madison County kids. Jasmine Means and
Kenzie Stewart of Hull-Sanford Elementary
School and Cubby Rupers, who is a home
schooler, will portray characters from five of
Aesop's Fables.
Aesop was a storyteller who wrote and
told over 200 stories in antiquity. He was
a philosopher who taught morality and life
lessons with his stories. The children will
portray stories about the Tortoise and the
Hare, which teaches the importance of per
severance, “The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing,”
which teaches a lesson about gullibility and
three other short tales. The audience will
participate with actors by providing sound

effects and voicing opinions as to what the
characters should do.
“It will be a fun show for children in kin
dergarten through sixth grade and perhaps
open discussions at home about behavior
and everyday decision making,” organizers
said.
Tickets are $8 and $10 and are available at
the door. There will be a $5 children’s mati
nee on Sunday for kids 12 and under.
AUDITIONS AHEAD FOR
SLEEPING BEAUTY
The Athens Little Playhouse will hold
auditions for “Sleeping Beauty” Monday,
March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, from
6:30 to 8 p.m.
The show’s director is Gloria Kibbe Sams.
Production dates are May 29-31.
“Come prepared to do a cold reading from
the script or a prepared monologue," said
Sams. “Be ready to read loud and with a lot
of expression in your voice and in your body
movement. If you do a prepared monologue,
you may use a chair or a simple hand prop.”
There are a lot of roles for beginners as
well as seasoned performers. Some doubling
of roles may be utilized, Sams said.
For more information, go to athenslittle-
playhouse.org or call 706-208-1036 or call
