‘The Last Supper’
Jones Chapel United Methodist Church, located on Hwy. 29
North, across from Zeb’s Bar-B-Que, will have a special wor
ship service presenting a re-enactment of the Last Supper
April 9 at 7 p.m. in the church’s Family Life Center. Those tak
ing part in the presentation include Jonathan Peeples, Oliver
Tilton, Tim Lince, Bobby Reno, Jeff Hancock, Davis Mize,
Max Sartain, Burke Johnson, Donald Sartain, Jerry Davis,
Allen Coile, Chris Parham, and Tony Taylor. Special music
will be provided by Sonya McDaniel. “The public is invited to
join us for this special presentation,” church leaders said.
•Gordon’s Chapel UMC
will host an Easter egg hunt at
the Sanford Community Center
Saturday, April 4. from 11 a.m. to
2 p.m. A hot dog lunch will also
be held.
•Springfield Baptist Church,
Hwy. 72, Comer, will have an Easter
Sunrise Service Sunday, April 12,
beginning at 6:30 a.m. the Rev. Roy
L. Thomas and Waggoner’s Grove
Baptist Church will conduct the
service.
•Freedom Church of God, locat
ed at 3428 Neese Commerce Road,
will have a barbecue pork sandwich
plate dinner Sunday, April 5, fol
lowing the morning service. All pro
ceeds will go to benefit tire Freedom
Church of God Foodbank Ministry,
church leaders said. Plates include
a barbecue pork sandwich, slaw,
baked beans, tea and dessert and are
$6 each for adults and S3 each for
children 10 and under. Dine in or

•Jones Chapel UMC Preschool
is now accepting applications for
the three and four year old pre
school program at the church. The
preschool begins in September and
is held on Tuesday, Wednesday,
and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon.
This is tire fourth year of the pre
school, which is taught by certi
fied, experienced teachers, leaders
said. Applications are available
on-line at the Jones Chapel web
page or available at the church or
by mail. Enrollment is accepted
on first-come first-serve basis. For

•Colbert United Methodist
Church will prepare and serve a
catfish filet tray or plate Saturday,
April 18, at the Family Life Center.
The menu will include a catfish
filet, hush puppies, French fries and
slaw. This year the event is eat in
or take out, organizers said. Tea or
soft drinks will be served for the
individuals that eat in tire Family
Life Center. The cost will be as
follows: adult tray, $8; adult plate
and drink, $8.50; children under
12, $4 for tray or plate. Serving
will begin at 4:30 p.m. and cease at
7 p.m. the following have tickets:

•The second planning meeting
for the 2009 Madison County
Ministerial Senior Banquet for
high school seniors is set for Sunday,
April 5, at 2:30 p.m. at Friendship
Baptist Church. “We need many
more workers, so we encourage
churches to send two workers to
help present this banquet,” organiz
ers said. The first planning meet
ing was held March 15 and there
were 10 people in attendance, rep
resenting five churches. This year's
banquet will be held April 27 at
6 p.m. at the MCHS school caf
eteria. The banquet will include a
nice dinner followed by a music
program, a special message and a
special gift for each MCHS Senior
to take home, organizers said. All
churches are encouraged to send
at least two working representa
tives from your church interested
in helping plan and participate in
presenting this banquet, organizers
said. Letters were mailed to each
church seeking participation which
includes workers and contributions
of $175, if possible, but all contri
butions will be helpful and needed.

or brought to tire second planning

This banquet is not sponsored by
nor participated in by any school
personnel in any official manner,
organizers said.
•Danielsville Evangelical
Methodist Church will have a
ham and egg supper Friday, April
3, from 5-7 p.m. Adult tickets are
$7.50 each; children 6-12 are $3.50
each and children 5 and under are
free. Eat in or take-out. All pro
ceeds will go to benefit men’s and
women’s projects and missions at

•The Danielsville Gospel Barn
will host a benefit gospel singing
Saturday, April 4, at 7 p.m. Featured
singers will be Stephens Sisters,
Lula, and the Dixie Sonlighters,
Soperton. The Danielsville Gospel

•Jones Chapel Church will
hold its second annual Womanless
Beauty Pageant and Silent Auction
April 15 at tire Jones Chapel
Family Life Center, beginning at
6 p.m. All proceeds will go to this
year’s Madison County Relay for
Life, organizers said. Donations are
needed for the silent auction. If you
have an item you would be willing
to donate, contact Theresa Jones at

at 706-789-3307. Organizers say
arrangements can be made to pick
up your donation or you can drop
it by the church before April 3,
along with a dollar value of the
item to determine a minimum bid.
The name of the donor will be dis
played with all items and donations
are tax-deductible, organizers said.
Jones Chapel is also looking for
contestants for the beauty pageant
and the only requirement is that
they be *'Womanless” organizers

participate.
•Greater Hope Fellowship
Church will have an "old time
gospel tent singing” April 4, begin
ning at 1:30 p.m. Special singers
will include William Clayton and
Redeemed, Divine 3, Clarke Kesler
and Friends and other local singers.
Hamburger and hot dog plates will
be sold, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Admission is free, with donations
accepted, church leaders said. The
church is located at 2152 Hwy. 29
North (comer of Hwy. 29 and 281).

•Joy Baptist Church will host
revival services April 5-8 with
evangelist Scott Smith. Sunday ser

•Mt. Zion Church will have a
spring festival Saturday, April 11,
from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Madison
County Memorial Park featuring
performances by The Goodwins
and One Way. In addition to gos
pel singing, the festival will include
inflatables, food, yard sales, com
munity booths, etc., organizers said.

$5 if you bring your own table,

will have a pork barbecue Saturday,

be used to pave the church park
