Read Across America day with
guest readers on Tuesday, March
10.
The reading celebration takes
place each year on or near March
2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss.
Across the country, thousands
of schools, libraries, and commu
nity centers participate by bring
ing together kids and books.

Beef show team ends
year on high note
Madison County’s beef show team closed the season on a high
note at the Washington Area Steer and Heifer Show with two ani
mals in the Grand Champion Drive,
"Students have put in countless hours working with their parents
and their project so that they could be their very best," teachers
said. “As the members of the Madison County Beef Show Team
walked into the ring with their animals for their last show of the
season, they weren’t thinking about anything but the task at hand.”
Tyler Arnold placed first and won Grand Champion AOB with
his limousin heifer. Arnold also placed first and won grand cham
pion honors with his commercial heifer, which was later selected
to win the title of Overall Reserve Champion heifer of the show.
Kayla Tolbert placed third with her commercial heifer and
Morgan Tolbert placed first with her commercial heifer. In
Showmanship: Tyler Arnold placed first; Stephanie Hilbum placed
second; Morgan Tolbert placed fifth; Kim Chandler placed first in
her eleventh grade class; and Kayla Tolbert placed seventh in an
extremely difficult Senior Showmanship class.
In the steer show, Stephanie Hilbum placed fourth; Sydney
Arnold placed fifth; Morgan Tolbert placed fifth and Kim
Chandler placed first with her Angus steer, which was named the
light weight champion.
