Lindy Grace Adkins, 65,
died Monday, March 30,
2009, at Northeast Georgia
Medical Center, following
an extended illness.
Born on November 2,
1943, in Fulton County, she
was the daughter of the late
Marvin Ernest and Lindy
Marie Matthews Durham.
She was a past Matron of
the Order of Eastern Star, a
Christian and a member of
Belmont Baptist Church.
Survivors include her hus
band, Edward L. Adkins Sr.,
Gainesville; son, Edward L.
Adkins Jr., Gainesville; sis
ters, Judy Diane Durham
and Sandra D. Hayes, both
of Gainesville; brothers,
Marvin Nelson Durham
and Melvin Ernest Durham,
both of Gainesville; broth
er and sister-in-law, Billy
Ray and Pat Adkins,
Gillsville; mother-in-law,
Cullie Margarette Adkins,
Gainesville; and a number
of friends.
Funeral services were
held Thursday, April 2, at
Belmont Baptist Church
with the Rev. Bill Compton
and Charles Chapman
officiating. Burial was in
Memorial Park Cemetery.

Stephens County Hospital
following a sudden illness
Born in Habersham
County on January 29,
1934, she was the daughter
of the late Claude and Ethel
Brookshire Herrin. She was
a homemaker and a mem
ber of East Lavonia Church
of God. Mrs. Batchelor was
preceded in death by her
first husband, Arthur Seay;
second husband, George
Batchelor; daughter, Kathy
McCollum; and grandson,
Anthony Garrett.
Survivors include a
daughter and son-in-law,
Emily and Wayne Garrett,
Cleveland; sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, John and Sally
Seay, Cornelia, and Donnie
and Betty Seay, Martin; 11
grandchildren; 20 great
grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren.

Katherine Beard, 86, died
Sunday, April 5, 2009, at
the Grandview Nursing
Center in Athens.
Born in Franklin County
on December 4, 1922,
she was the daughter of
the late Charlie Reese and
Versie Sexton Beard. She
was retired from Johnson &
Johnson Consumer Products
and was a member of the
Providence Baptist Church,
where she was a member
of the WMU. Mrs. Beard
was preceded in death by
brothers, Oscar and Marvin
Beard; and a sister, Jean
Seay.
Survivors include daugh
ters and sons-in-law, Dora
and Jimmy Ervin, Helen
and Garey Manley, and
Kathy and Alvin Chastain,
all of Danielsville; brother,
O.B. Beard, Danielsville;
six grandchildren; and 8
great-grandchildren.

held Wednesday, April 8, in
the chapel of Pruitt Funeral

County, she was the daugh

Clara Daniel Wall. She
was employed at Thomas
Textile and retired from

inspector. She was a mem
ber of the Oconee Street
United Methodist Church.

Butler, 71, died Saturday,
April 4, 2009, at his resi
dence following an extend
ed illness.
He was a lifelong resi
dent of Hall
County and
was the son of
the late Archie
and Tinnie Elliott Butler. He
was former owner/operator
of Butler’s Electric Shop
and retired from A G C
Enterprises. He was of the
Baptist denomination and
was preceded in death by
sisters, Jesse Alexandra,
Jean Dorsey, Dorabell
Parker, Lucy Ann Turner
and Ruth Butler; brothers,
Claude Butler, Pratt Butler,
Bill Butler and Dean Butler.
Mr. Butler was a veteran,
having served in the United
States Air Force.
Survivors include his
wife, Ruby Holland Butler,
Oakwood; sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Michael and
Suzanne Strickland and
Tony and Lycinda Butler,
all of Gainesville; daughter
and son-in-law, Angela and
Mark Owens, Fayetteville,
N.C.; brother, Gus Butler,
Lula; sister, Lottie Turner,
Alto; brother-in-law and
sister-in-law, Larry and Pam
Holland, Lula; sister-in-law,
Carolyn Clark, Gainesville;
and 10 grandchildren.

Church and retired as a

Textile. Mrs. Crowley was

husband, Harold Crowley.

and was a volunteer with
the Red Cross as well as
Athens Regional Medical
Center for many years.

in death by her husband,
Millard F. Havener.
