Fight over shoes
ends in injury
A mother-son argument over some shoes resulted in a call
to 911.
According to the incident report, Deputy Gary Floyd was
summoned to a Briarwood Lane home Saturday after a
woman and her juvenile son got into an argument over some
shoes that had been returned. Her son reportedly became
upset over the shoes and he and his mother began to argue
in his bedroom. At some point, the boy grabbed his mother
and held her down. When she managed to get up, she called
911, but during the call her son reportedly grabbed the cell
phone and broke it.
A neighbor arrived at the home and intervened. The
juvenile then allegedly punched the glass in his bedroom
window, breaking the glass, and proceeded into the living
room where he punched and broke a second window. The
boy cut his hand on the glass and was taken to the Athens
Regional by Madison County EMS for treatment and later
picked up by his grandparents. The matter was turned over
to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
