Animal Shelter Music
Festival set for June 6
The Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter
(MOAS) Music Festival is Saturday. June 6, at
Madison County Memorial Park in Danielsville
from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Entertainment includes gospel, country and
bluegrass music, along with numerous drawings
for prizes. Food and drinks are also available.
Admission is free, but donations are
appreciated. All proceeds benefit the Madison
Oglethorpe Animal Shelter.
Scheduled performances include:
•Gospel music - Clarke Kesler (who will also
serve as master of ceremonies), the Songsters
and the Gipsons (bluegrass gospel).
•Country music - Ramblin’ Country and Steve
Dyer and Friends.
•Country/westem music - The Sons of Shiloh,
including Bartow Henry (vocals). Bill Adams,
Norris Allen, Buster Chadwick, Barney Miller
(steel), Ken Smith (guitar), Wayne Smith (bass),
Wayne Stowers (drums), Johnny Thomas (lead
guitar) and Stan Lee (fiddle).

Sartain
family reunion set
for June 7
The annual Sartain family reunion for the
descendents of Samuel Elisha Sartain and Sara
Alice Bond Sartain will be held this year on
Sunday, June 7, at 1 p.m. at the Jones Chapel
United Methodist Church Family Fife Center on
Hwy. 29 North (across from Zeb’s Barbecue).
Other descendents include: Jessie Sartain
Nelms and Willie Nelms, Alfred Oscar Sartain
and May Dean Sartain, Henry Lafayette Sartain
and Ora Hill Sartain, George Nathan Sartain and
Jessie Lee Crowe Sartain, Samuel Lee Sartain
and Ina Mae Martin Sartain, Charlie Britain
Sartain and Vela Nash Sartain, Rea Sartain Teate
and Hoyt Teate and Joe Bond Sartain and Hester
Carey Sartain.
“All family and friends are invited to come
and share a day of fun and fellowship with your
kinfolk,” organizers said.
“Please bring a well-filled basket and your
favorite drinks." All paper products will be
provided.
Family members note that the Sartain heritage
has been traced back to the late 1700s.
Those with information to update the family
tree are encouraged to bring it to the reunion.
Dillard family reunion
set for June 14
The Dillard family reunion will be held June
14, beginning at 12:15 p.m. at the Sanford
Community Center next to Gordon's Chapel
Methodist Church on Sanford Road, Hull. For

Brock reunion
ahead June 14
The Joe Brock family reunion will be held at
the American Legion in Homer, Banks County,
beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 14.
Lunch will be served at noon, and participants
are asked to bring a covered dish.
All are welcome to bring any pictures or gene
alogy to share, coordinators say.

MISS DEAN, MR. FITZPATRICK
Dean, Fitzpatrick to wed June 20
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Dean of Acworth announce the engagement of
their daughter Stephanie Ashley Dean, to Zachrey Minish Fitzpatrick,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Fitzpatrick of Duluth.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Minnie Duke and the
late Luther Duke of Huntsville, Alabama; and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Dean of Huntsville, Alabama.
Miss Dean is a graduate of North Cobb High School in Kennesaw,
and a graduate of Young Harris College. She is also a graduate of the
University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychol
ogy as well as an expected graduate of Kennesaw State University with
a Master of Social Work degree.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamrick of
Gainesville; and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Fitzpatrick of Danielsville, and
the late Nell Fitzpatrick of Danielsville.
Mr. Fitzpatrick is a graduate of Duluth High School in Duluth
and a graduate of Young Harris College. He is also a graduate of the
University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration
degree in management. He is employed with Gwinnett Community
Bank as a banking associate in Duluth.
The wedding is planned for Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 3 p.m. at
Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church in Young Harris.

The Peach State Archaeological
Society will be holding the annual
Indian Artifact Show in Athens,
Saturday, June 6, from 8 a.m. - 3
p.m. at the Greater Athens Church
of God. The church is located on the
left side of Tallassee Road, exactly
1.3 miles from the Tallassee Road
exit from the Athens perimeter.
