•Full Gospel Church of Comer will have a special sing
ing Saturday, June 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The church is
located at 118 Vine Street in Comer and the pastor is Rev.
Henry Shelton. “Come and enjoy the music or join in and sing

•Mt. Zion Church in Royston announces that The Scott
Thomas Singers will not be available to perform Saturday
evening, June 27, as was previously announced.
•Hannah’s Creek Baptist Church will have annual home
coming services Sunday, June 28, beginning at 10 a.m. with a
gospel singing and a guest speaker. Lunch will be served 12:30
p.m. Bring food and drinks, church leaders said. Hannah's
Creek is located off Hwy. 281 in the Harrison Community

•Riverside Church on Hwy. 72 in Colbert will have
Vacation Bible School Sunday - Thursday, July 12-16, from
6 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. each evening, for ages 3 through fifth
grade. The theme is SonRock Kids Camp. To register or for

•The Ladies Prayer Group meets at the Ila Restaurant at
8 a.m. every fourth Sunday. All ladies are invited to attend
for good food, fellowship and devotion, organizers said. Mrs.
Johnnie Edwards will be the guest speaker for Sunday, June
28-
•Union Baptist Church, Hull will host a celebration of
“God & Country” on Friday evening, July 3. The event is
free, church leaders said. There will be live music and per
formances by the youth interpretive dance and drama team.
The event begins at 8 p.m. and will end with a fireworks show
at 9:30 p.m. The church is located 3.5 miles south of Ila on
Hwy. 106. For more information, contact the church office at

•Mt. Zion Church in Royston will begin holding its
mid-week services on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m., instead of
Thursdays, beginning mid-June. “We encourage and invite
everyone to attend,” church leaders said. For more informa
tion, contact Pastor David Gibson at 706-246-0795.
•New Beginning Family Worship Center will have a
“parking lot fellowship” Sunday, June 28, from 12:30 p.m. to
4 p.m. Speakers and singers will include “That Same Spirit”
singers, Jennifer West, The New Beginning Praise Team and
evangelist Ben Barker. There will also be children’s activities
and special games for children of all ages, church leaders
said.
Hull Civic Club
welcomes 20 members
The Hull Civic Club met on Thursday June 18 with 20 mem
bers present.
According to the meeting minutes, members ate before the
business meeting and the blessing of the food was asked by
mayor Paul Elkins. The meeting was called to order by club
president Buddy Logan. Lawrence Tolbert opened with prayer.
The pledge to the flag was held by all members. The trea
surer's report was given by Evie Hart. The minutes of the last
meeting were read by Tempie Porterfield and approved.
President Logan welcomed all present, as well as several new
members who have joined in the past few months. These mem
bers include Scott and Teri Jones, Steve and Ellen Browning,
Jeanette Jones, Dee Osborne and Sara Carney. The club voted to
give former member Sammy Tucker a love offering to help with
expenses he had with a fire at his home.
Previously, the club voted to give member Linda Hunter a love
offering for medical expenses.
The mission of the club is to support the community with
volunteerism and to promote the civic welfare of the community
physically, spiritually and financially, publicity chair O.P. Jones
said.
New members are welcome to attend the next meeting Aug.
13, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Hull Civic Building with a
covered dish meal.
Anyone interested in renting the Civic Club building should
contact Larry Hart our building and grounds chairman, Jones
noted.
CHAMBERLAIN RECEIVES
AMVET AWARD
Harold Chamberlain, Hull, recently received
the AMVET Youth Volunteer of the Year Award
for the state of Georgia during the AMVETS
state convention. Chamberlain is pictured with
Georgia Lt. General David Poythress and his
wife, who presented the award to Chamberlain.

MR. APPLING, MISS FITZPATRICK
Fitzpatrick, Appling
to wed July 11
Paul Fitzpatrick, Ila, and Alicia Fitzpatrick, Danielsville,
announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their
daughter, Teresa Susann Fitzpatrick, Danielsville, to Michael
Samuel Appling Jr., Jefferson, son of Marjorie Stogner, Buford,
the late Mike Appling, and stepson of Ray Stogner, Buford.
The future bride is the granddaughter of Martha Fitzpatrick and
the late Henry Fitzpatrick and the late Marilyn Jordan.
Miss Fitzpatrick is a graduate of Madison County High School,
1993; Young Harris College, 1995; University of Georgia, 1997;
and Piedmont College, 2000, (masters degree, 2000; educational
specialist degree, 2009). She is a kindergarten teacher at Hull-
Sanford Elementary School.
The future groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron
Appling, Commerce, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hutchins.
Mr. Appling is a graduate of Central Gwinnett High School,
1992; and Georgia Southern University, 1998. He is vice president
of Apple Printing, a family-owned business in Suwannee.
The wedding is set for July 11, 2009, at Grove Level Chantry,
Maysville.
