Sunday, July 19, 2009.
She was preceded in
death by her husband, Floyd
Eugene Boyett.

daughter, Rose Mary Boyett,
Atlanta; brother, Bartow

in Norcross. Burial was in

'Mike' Carr on
JEFFERSON - Michael
"Mike" Andrew Carron,
53, died Sunday, August
2, 2009, from injuries sus
tained in a motorcycle acci
dent.
Born in Auburn, Ala.,
he was the son of the late
Jeffrey Albert and Katherine
Craw Carron. Mike first
worked as a commercial
diver for J. Ray McDermott
Company in New Orleans,
then a number of years
with BellSouth Information
Systems. Mike was a
graduate of Wade Hampton
High School, attended the
University of South Carolina
and was a graduate of
DeKalb College. In 2001,
Mike founded Mike’s Grill
and Mike’s Down Under, a
popular restaurant and night
spot in downtown Jefferson,
of which he operated with
great success until the time
of his untimely death.
Survivors include his wife,
Pamela Shirley Carron,
Jefferson; daughter Anna
Catherine Carron, Jefferson;
brothers, Stephen Carron,
Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and Nick
Carron, Jefferson.
Memorial services will
be held at 4 p.m. Saturday,
August 8, from the Chapel
of Evans Funeral Home
with the Rev. Tilly Welborn
officiating. The family will
receive friends prior to the
service from 2 to 4 p.m. at
Evans Funeral Home.

James Caudell
HOMER - James
Buford Caudell, 85, died
Saturday, August 1, 2009, at
Habersham County Medical
Center following a brief ill
ness.
Born in Banks County on
July 11, 1924, he was the
son of the late
Futher Calvin
and Mary C.
Caudell. He
was a member of Homer
Baptist Church and was
retired as a foreman from
Chicopee Manufacturing,
and was a United States
Army veteran, having
served in the European
Theater during World War
II, where he was a POW
being held in Germany. He
enjoyed hunting, garden
ing, farming and other out
door activities, and spend
ing time with his children,
grandchildren, and great
grandchildren. Mr. Caudell
was preceded in death by
his wife, Mary O. Caudell;
a son, Farry Caudell; sis
ters, Mary Fouise Short and
Annese Ola Caudell; and a
brother, Brodus Caudell.
Survivors include a daugh
ter and son-in-law, Ponda
and Fou Wood, Roswell;
sister, Kitty R. Caudell,
Homer; brother, Dewey
Winford Caudell, Mt. Airy;
grandchildren, Melissa
Tirico, Jim Wood, Dr. Misty
Dawn Caudell; great-grand
children, Ella Marie Wood,
Fily Kathryn Wood, and
Sophia Melissa Tirico.

She was a member of Zion
Baptist Church in Braselton
and was a retired program
analyst from CDC in Atlanta,
where she worked for over
20 years. She received her
Associate’s Degree from
Mars Hill College, her
BS Degree from Mercer
University, and her Master's
Degree from the University
of Georgia. She was a
beloved wife, mother and
Nana and made a positive
difference in the lives of all
those she touched.
Survivors include her hus
band of 50 years, the Rev.
Jack Chalmers; daughters
and sons-in-law, Debbie and
Phil Campbell, Snellville,
Kim and Kevin King,

88, died Monday, August 3,
2009.
Born in Jackson County,
she was the daughter of
the late Ernest and Ada
Rice Strickland. She was a
member of The Tabernacle
in Fawrenceville and had
worked as a secretary for
Richard Russell. Mrs. Cook
was preceded in death by
her husband, J.D. Cook.

Roger Scott Ewing, 41, died

Northeast Georgia Medical
Center in Gainesville, fol
lowing a sudden illness.
Born on October 28,1967,
in Hall County, he was the
son of the late Bill Ewing
and Glenda Perry Ewing
Owens. He was employed
at Applied Industry in
sales and was a member of
Calvary Baptist Church. He
was a veteran,
having served § 11
in the United —
States Army in
Egypt and Jordan. He will
be remembered as a lov
ing husband, father, brother,
son and friend, loved ones
stated. He was a man who
served his country with a
great deal of passion and
honor and is loved very
much and will be missed
dearly.

Franklin Garland, 75, died
Tuesday, July 28, 2009,
at M.D. Anderson Cancer
Center in Houston Texas.
Born June 27, 1934, in
Thomaston, he was the son
of the late Benjamin and
Sallie Belle
Garland. He
served his
country in
the United States Navy for
many years. Mr. Garland
was formerly employed in
the dental industry where he
worked in sales.
Survivors include
his wife, Barbara Ann
Garland, Auburn; son and
daughter-in-law, Clary
Franklin Garland, Jr. and
Pam Garland, Winder;
brother, Marion Garland;
sister and brother-in-law,
Judy and Charles Hardage;

ATHENS - Charles
W. Hawkins, 76, died
Wednesday, July 29, 2009.
Born in Talmo, he was
the son of the late Charles
W. and Ezelle
Hawkins. He
was a vet
eran of the
U.S. Occupation force in
Germany during World War
II. After the war he became
a well known auto sales
man in the Athens area. He
was a member and past Post
Commander of the VFW
Post 2872, a Mason, and
a member and deacon of
Attica Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife
of 53 years, Susan Gibson
Hawkins; sons, Charles W.
“Chuck” Hawkins III and
William Aubrey Hawkins;
sister, Faye Marcus; and a
number of nieces and neph
ews.
Funeral services were
held Saturday, August 1, at
Attica Baptist Church with
the Revs. Kevin Purcell and
Shane Moore officiating.
Burial was in the church
cemetery. Pallbearers were
John Dills, Autie Gibson,
Randy Marcus, Dean Archer,
Steve Coker and Dwight
Marcus. Members of the
VFW Post 2872 served as
honorary pallbearers.

Cammie Hinton
WINDER - Cammie
Maynard Hinton, 96, died
Friday, July 31, 2009.
A native of Winder, she
was the daughter of the late
Marion Russell Maynard and
Martha Bush Summerour
Maynard. She was preceded
in death by her husband,
Coy Holman Hinton, Sr.
Mrs. Hinton was a grad
uate of the University of
Georgia, worked with
Georgia Power as a home-
demonstration agent, taught
school in Dacula and Winder,
taught in the Winder First
United Methodist Church
Preschool, and retired
as a caseworker for the
Barrow County Department
of Family and Children
Services. She was a lifelong,
faithful member of Winder
First United Methodist
church, where she cooked
dozens of biscuits for the
annual ham and egg sup
per and became a member
of the “1,000-mile club” in
their senior citizens walking
program. She was devot
ed to her family, spending
countless hours cooking for
and playing board games
with her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son
and daughter-in-law, the
Rev. Dr. Coy H. Hinton and
Linda Hinton, College Park;
daughter and son-in-law,
Kay and Carroll Eddleman,
Hoschton; grandchildren,
Matthew andMiriam Hinton,
Andrew and Ashley Hinton,
Dr. Rachel Eddleman, and
Mary Kay Eddleman; three
great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
