Allen, 79, died Wednesday,
August 5, 2009.
Born in Madison County,
she lived most of her life in
Marietta. She was a home
maker and a beloved mem
ber of Hill Street Baptist
Church in Marietta.
Survivors include her
husband, Billy H. Allen,
Marietta; son and daughter-
in-law, the Rev. H. Bryan
Allen and Renee Allen,
Duncanville, Ala.; daugh
ter, Diann Dilbeck, Powder
Springs; sisters, Hazel
Gay, Acworth, and Patricia
Thompson, Athens; grand

nieces and nephews.

and Jewell Whitworth
Chandler. She was plant
manager for Georgia
Sportswear of Ila for many
years and was a member
of Moon’s Grove Baptist
Church. Mrs. Brooks was
preceded in death by a
brother, W.L. Chandler.
Survivors include her
husband, Guy E. Brooks;
daughter and son-in-
law, Ann and John Cass,
Danielsville; son and
daughter-in-law, Don and
Jan Brooks, Danielsville;
sisters, Lorene Moseman,
Jean Edwards and
Maudene McCannon;
brothers, E. Jack Chandler,

Chandler; five grandchil

grandchildren; and many
nieces and nephews.

Kenneth R. Brown, 72,
died Wednesday, August 5,
2009.
Born in Jackson County,
hegraduatedfromMaysville
High School.
He was in
the United
States Army
Reserves prior
to being called to active
duty in Berlin, Germany,
during the Cold War Crisis.
He went on to graduate
from Woodrow Wilson
College of Law with a mas
ter of law degree in 1969.
He began his private prac
tice in November 1971. His
work was his ministry; he
loved helping others and
had a heart for the Asian
community.
Survivors include his
wife, Louisia Elizabeth
(Beth) Underwood; a son,
Kevin R. Brown, Flagler
Beach, Fla.; daughter and
son-in-law, Kenda and
David L. Meeks, Marietta;
grandchildren, Matthew
Meeks, Alyssa Meeks,
Kristen Meeks and Abigail
Gibbons; sisters and broth-
er-in-law, Eloise Slaton,
Austell, and Sue and Don
Truluck, Watkinsville; sis
ter-in-law, Sandra Brown,

‘Mike’ Carr on

“Mike” Andrew Carron,
53, died Sunday, August
2, 2009, from injuries sus
tained in a motorcycle acci
dent.
Born in Auburn, Ala.,
he was the son of the late
Jeffrey Albert and Katherine
Craw Carron. Mike first
worked as a commercial
diver for J. Ray McDermott
Company in New Orleans,
then a number of years
with BellSouth Information
Systems. Mike was a grad
uate of Wade Hampton
High School, attended
the University of South
Carolina and was a gradu
ate of DeKalb College. In
2001, Mike founded Mike’s
Grill and Mike’s Down
Under, a popular restaurant
and night spot in down
town Jefferson, of which
he operated with great suc
cess until the time of his
untimely death.
Survivors include his
wife, Pamela Shirley
Carron, Jefferson; daugh
ter Anna Catherine Carron,
Jefferson; brothers, Stephen
Carron, Mt. Pleasant,
S.C. and Nick Carron,
Jefferson.

Richard Russell. Mrs. Cook
was preceded in death by
her husband, J.D. Cook.

1922, in LaGrange, she
was the daughter of the late
Murray Joel Wilcox and
was raised by her stepfa
ther, John Isaiah Hudson
and her late mother, Nonie
Schultz Hudson. She was
a retired seamstress and
florist and was a member
of the Northside Baptist
Church in Manchester.
Mrs. Danner was preceded
in death by her husband,
Vance Danner; and a sister,
Mary Jo Wilcox.
Survivors include a
daughter and son-in-law,
Anita and A1 Westmoreland,
Jefferson; son and daughter-
in-law, David and Marilyn
Danner, Manchester;
sisters, Johnnie Parker,
Dadeville, Ala., and Helen

Hattie Lois McGalliard,

died Thursday, August 6,
2009.
Born in Jackson County,
she was the daughter of the
late Willie Nathaniel and
Lunie May Sheffield Jacks.
She was a former mem
ber of Galilee Christian
Church. She later left
Jackson County and went
to China Grove, N.C. in
1928, where she worked
at Cannon Mills and was
a homemaker; and had
recently moved to Florida.
Mrs. McGalliard was
preceded in death by her
husband, William Marcus
McGalliard.
Survivors include daugh
ters, Claris Ingersoll,
Athens, and Lucille Rood,
Lake City, Fla.; grandchil
dren, John Ingersoll and
Suzanne Ingersoll, both of
Athens, Becky Pedersen,

McNabb, 92, died Monday,
August 10, 2009, died
Monday, August 10, 2009.
He was from the greatest
generation of Americans.
He was born in Towns
County on
December 21, B i S ~
1916. Mr.
McNabb was
the son of the late I.G. and
Effie Nicholson McNabb.
Mr. McNabb was a United
States Army veteran. He
served with the 1st Infantry
Division (The Big Red One)
in World War II where he
was a rifleman and attained
the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He served in Normandy at
Omaha Beach in the Battle
of the Bulge. Mr. McNabb
was a highly decorated vet
eran earning many medals
such as the Bronze Star
with two oak leaf clusters,
Good Conduct Medal,
Distinguished Service
Medal, a Presidential Unit
Citation with oak leaf clus
ter, European, African,
Middle Eastern Campaign
Medal with 3 bronze stars
and a silver star arch, World
War II Victory Medal, and
the Honorable Service
Medal. After serving in
the military, Mr. McNabb
was a self-employed car
penter. He was a mem
ber of Fairfield Baptist
Church. Mr. McNabb was
preceded in death by his
beloved wife, Alfreda Nix
McNabb.
Survivors include a
daughter and son in law,
Judy and Jimmy Stowe,
Pendergrass; son, Richard
McNabb; two grandchil
dren; and five great-grand
children.
Funeral services were held
on Wednesday, August 12,
from the Hillside Memorial
Chapel with the Rev. Paris
Whitworth officiating.
Burial was in the Fairfield
Baptist Church Cemetery.
Full military honors were
provided by DAV Chapter
15, and the Grant Reeves
VFW Post #7720.
