Man faces family violence charges
A Danielsville man faced
family violence charges last
week after deputies were
called to a domestic dispute
at his home.
James Thomas Adams, 34,
3269 Rogers Mill Road, was
charged with one count each
of cruelty to children in the
first degree, cruelty to chil
dren in the third degree and
battery FVA.
According to the incident,
deputies met with his wife,
who stated that her husband
came home intoxicated and
was going to sleep in their
11-year old son's room, while
the boy went to his parents'
room to sleep. The woman
said her son was “giving her
a hard time” and not follow
ing instructions when Adams
came after the boy in a “very
aggressive manner.” She told
deputies she stepped between
Adams and the boy, push
ing her husband and causing
him to fall backwards into the
bathtub. When Adams got up
he allegedly began choking
his wife with both hands and
backed her into a comer. The
boy then began to strike his
father in the back with his
fist. Adams allegedly turned
and struck the boy in the back
of the head with a closed fist,
causing him to fall to the floor,
face first. The boy's head
shuck the metal bed frame as
he fell, causing a large welt to
form at this temple. The boy
reportedly got up and ran to
his grandparents’ home next
door. A female juvenile, also
in the bedroom, witnessed the
entire event, according to the
report. All injuries were pho
tographed.
Deputies Jeff Kidd and
David Vaughn found Adams
in the basement of his home,
intoxicated. Adams said he
was defending himself against
his son because he is almost a
teenager. Adams was placed
under arrest and taken to the
Madison County Jail.
In another arrest, David
Dinh, 27, of 194 Hummingbird
Lane, Comer, was charged
with one count each of bat
tery FVA and simple battery
FVA after deputies were dis
patched to his home regard
ing a fight.
According to the incident
report, a woman at the resi
dence told deputies that her
son (Dinh) had pushed her
this morning after he asked
her if she had “ate all the
food.” The woman went and
told her husband, who con

Danielsville couple’s fight turns violent
A couple was arrested last

man and his wife turned into a
physical altercation.
Otis Gene Riden, 39, and
Buffie Lattice Bolton, 37, both
of 3233 Colbert-Danielsville
Road, Danielsville, were each
charged with one count of sim
ple battery.
According to the incident
report, Riden summoned dep
uties to the Bread Basket in
Colbert to report the altercation.
Riden said he and his wife got
into an argument about money
and bills on their way home
from Commerce. Riden said
while he was driving, his wife
began to hit and scratch him
in the face and that she put the
moving vehicle in park, almost
causing him to lose control of
it.
When they arrived at their
residence, Ms. Bolton allegedly
grabbed a bat (which is kept
in their vehicle) and broke the
vehicle’s windows. As Riden
attempted to grab her, she
reportedly struck him in the
ribs. He had visible injuries to
this right and left cheeks, his
right eye was swollen and he
had a large scratch on his neck.
When deputies made contact
with Ms. Bolton, she said she
was the one attacked and point
ed out a small scratch on her left
arm and one on her right arm
and a cut on the inside of her
upper lip. Both were arrested
and taken to jail, where photos
were taken of their injuries.
In another incident, warrants
are pending against a Hull
woman after she allegedly left
her two boys at their home on
Stone Stewart Road for two
days without food or water.
According to the incident
report, deputy Wesley Bryant
responded to a call in reference
to “two white male juveniles
that had been walking around
the neighborhood most of the
day.” Deputy Bryant found the
children and brought them to
the sheriff's office where they
met with Deputy Jeff Strickland.
The boys stated that their moth
er had left them on Oct. 1 (two
days prior) without telling them
where she was going or when
she would return. They spoke
with their grandmother, who
told them their mother was “in
Athens with one of their aunts.”
Deputy Strickland stated that
the mother was not located or
heard from and that the chil
dren were left at their residence
without food or water. One

his father, while the other was
released to his grandmother, per
the Department of Family and

would not.

woman's version of the story
was similar, except she said the
