Hull-Sanford fall
carnival and 5K
coming soon
Hull-Sanford Elementary
School will have a fall carnival
and 5K Oct. 24.
The 5K will begin at 9 a.m.
with registration beginning at 8
a.m. A one-mile “Fun Run” will
be held at 10 a.m. and is open
to elementary aged children. The
Fall Carnival will begin at 11 a.m.
and last until 1 p.m. Fall Carnival
activities include over 20 games,
a train ride, hay ride, inflatables,
a haunted house and a variety of
food for sale.
Local vendors will be on hand
selling their items. Those who
would like to participate in the 5K
or would like to be a vendor can
contact the school at 706-353-7888

MCHS class of 1964
plans reunion
The Madison County High
School class of 1964 will hold a
45-year reunion at Camp Kiwanis
at 6 p.m. Oct. 10. Class members
who have not been contacted may
call Spratt Bullock at 706-549-
7240 for information.
FCA‘Fields of
Faith’ set
for Oct. 14
The Madison County High
School Fellowship of Christian
Athletes (FCA) will hold “Fields
of Faith” Oct. 14 from 7-8:30
p.m.
The event will be held at the
athletic complex across from the
high school.
"We invite all youth groups and
any youth who would like to come
from sixth grade to 12th grade,”
organizers said.
There will be worship music,
student testimonials, skits and a
speaker.
"Come join us and take a stand
for God’s word and living by it,”
organizers said.

Free
developmental
screening offered
for Madison Co.
children
A free developmental screening
will be offered for Madison
County children Tuesday, Oct.
20, at Danielsville Elementary
School.
The screening is for children
ages 6 months to 5 years and
will test motor skills, speech and
language, vision and hearing.
Those whose last names begin
with A-I should come between
4 and 5 p.m. Those with last
names beginning with J-R should
come between 5 and 6 p.m. and
those with last names beginning
with S-Z should visit between 6
and 7 p.m. However, you may
come at another time between 4-7
p.m. if your assigned time is not
convenient.
Refreshments will be provided.
There will be activities for
siblings.
"If you are curious about your
child's developmental progress,
or if you suspect your child
may be having developmental
delays, please stop by for this
free screening at Danielsville
Elementary,” organizers said.

The President’s List and Dean’s
List have been released for
Summer Quarter 2009 at Athens
Technical College.
The President's List includes
20 students who reside in
Madison County. The students
and their programs of study
include Daniel Ashley, air

Chapman, health care science;
Katie Dalton, medical assisting;
Tiffany Doolittle-Nadeau, early
childhood care; Niki Ferguson,
dental hygiene; Leannah Hamann,
paralegal studies; Ashley Hart,

accounting; Jennifer Johnson,
medical assisting; Michelle
Marlow, networking specialist;

President’s List each quarter.
The Dean’s List includes eight
students who reside in Madison
County. The students and their

driving; Jennifer Bridges, cosmetic
esthetician; Jessica Cain, health
care science; Vickey Disharoon,
business office technology;
Timothy Fagan, commercial
truck driving; Kayla Gannon,
biotechnology; Robert Hamilton,
computer support specialist; and
Donna Hunsinger, patient care
assisting. Students who carry 12
or more credit hours and earn a
grade point average of between
3.5 and 3.9 are nominated to the
Dean’s List each quarter.
COMER ‘SPECIALS STARS’
Comer Elementary has announced its September “Specials”
STAR students. These students were chosen by their Specials

MCHS BAND EXCELS AT ARMIJCHEE INVITATIONAL
The Madison County High School band competed at the Armuchee High School Invitational this past weekend and took
home a number of trophies. In its class, the band won first place in colorguard, percussion, majorettes and was the best
overall band in class. It also received a rating of superior in each of those areas.

RECEIVING ‘THE AMERICAN HANDBOOK
The Woodmen of America recently presented a set of “The American Handbook” to Ila Elementary School’s fourth grade
American history social studies classes. “These books give the students a chance to have a hands-on experience and an
exciting view of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States and the Gettysburg Address,”
school leaders said. “We are appreciative of the donations and contributions given by The Woodmen of America.”
