Cathryn Baird
SOCIAL CIRCLE -
Cathryn Baird, 89, for
merly of Nicholson, died
Tuesday, October 13,
2009, at Abbey Hospice
House.
Born in Jackson County,
she was the daughter of
the late Warren Claude
and Leona McConnell
Hawks. She was a home
maker and a member of
the New Harmony Baptist
Church. Mrs. Baird was
preceded in death by her
husband, Marvin Baird.
Survivors include a
daughter, Barbara Hurt,
Social Circle; stepchild
ren, Laverne Baird,
Yvonne Baird, Pat
DeRobertis, and Bud
Thomas; brother, Harold
Hawks, Nicholson; sis
ters, Evelyn Haynes,
Danielsville, Dorothy
Erdman, Athens,
and Mildred David,
Nicholson; four grand
children; and eight great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were
held Saturday, October
17, from New Harmony
Baptist Church with the
Rev. Allen Seagraves
officiating. Burial was in
the church cemetery.

Brady Sue Coile
MOUNT PLEASANT,
S.C. - Brady Sue Coile, 95,
formerly of Winterville,
Ga., died Monday,
October 12, 2009, at East
Cooper Regional Medical
Center, Mount Pleasant,
S.C.
A native of Oglethorpe
County, she was the
daughter of the late
Emory Wesley and Susan
Lelia Moore Dye and
wife of 53 years to the
late Emory Bussey Coile.
Mrs. Coile taught school
at Nowell’s Academy in
Oglethorpe County and
was a 1932 graduate of
Athens Business College.
She and her husband
operated General Stores
in Oglethorpe and Clarke
County and she was a
successful district man
ager with World Book
Encyclopedia. She was
a member of East Athens
Baptist Church where
she was secretary for 16
years and founded, com
posed and named the
weekly church newsletter
‘The Messenger’, which
is still active today. For
25 years she was the
Sunday School Teacher
for the Marion Coile
Sunday School Class
at Winterville Baptist
Church. She served for 8
years as the first woman
Treasurer of Sarepta
Baptist Association. She
was appointed as a colo
nel in the Georgia Militia
by Governor Zell Miller,
was a member of the
DAR, Daughters of War
of 1812, UDC and a char
ter member of the Athens
Muscular Dystrophy
Chapter. She was sec
retary of the Winterville
Silver Hair Club for 21
years, was very instru
mental in conversion
and development of the
old Winterville Railroad
Depot into a popular com
munity center and served
14 years on the City of
Winterville Council and
as mayor pro tern. In
June 29, 1966, she and
her husband wrote a letter
to the editor of the then,
Athens Daily News, advo
cating the Watson Mill
Bridge as a possible state
park. She was an amateur
poet and writer.
Survivors include a
son and daughter-in-
law, Robert and Nancy
Coile, Hartwell; a daugh
ter and son-in-law, Linda
and Donnie Caston, Mt.
Pleasant, S.C.; four grand
children who all called
her ‘Mama Code’; grand
daughter and her husband,
Danielle and Robert Neal,
Lawrenceville; grandson
and his wife, Robert and
Julie Coile; grandson,
Ty Caston, Mt. Pleasant,
S.C., grandson and his
wife, Tim and Jennifer
Caston, Charleston, S.C.;
eight great-grandchildren,
Lily, Catherine, Christy
and Jonathan Neal, Caitlin
and Patrick Coile, Ashley
and Aubree Caston; sis-
ters-in-law: Clara Coile,
Comer, Margaret Sorrells,
Augusta; brother-in-law
and his wife: Clayton

held Friday, October 16,
at Lord & Stephens East
Chapel with Dr. Maurice
Crowder, Revs. Ray
Werzer and Don Leaptrott
officiating. Burial was
at Winterville Cemetery.

Herman Cutshall
ROYSTON - Herman
Cutshall, 59, died Monday,
October 12, 2009.
Born in Marshall, N.C.,
he was the son of Baxter
Cutshall and the late Ida
Norton Cutshall. He had
attended Hannah’s Creek
Baptist Church and was
a member of the Cutshall
Family Singers.
Survivors in addition
to his father include wife
of 37 years, Margaret
Cutshall; a son, Tater
Cutshall, Royston; sisters,
Bernice Chapman, Louise
Rice, Virgie Chandler
and Pansey Norton, all
of North Carolina; grand
children, James and Jacob
Cutshall; and many nieces
and nephews.

15, at First Pentecostal
Oneness Church in Arcade
with the Revs. Gene

his son, Tater Cutshall,

Born at the U.S. Naval
Hospital in Portsmouth,
Va., he was the son of
Allen and Faye Harris of
Colbert. He was a gradu

High School and later
attended Athens Technical
College. He was a member
of the Gordon’s Chapel
United Methodist Church
in Colbert. Mr. Harris
was preceded in death
by paternal grandparents,
Foster and Anne Harris,
Washington; and paternal
great-grandparents, Foster
and Vera Harris.

Ronald Leuthner, 33, died
Friday, October 16, 2009.
Born in Robbinsdale,
Minn., he was the son of
Ronald and Cheryl Krenz
Leuthner of Nicholson. He
graduated from Heritage
High School in Conyers
in 1994 and earned his BA
degree in art marketing
at North Georgia College
(NGC) in 1999. While at
NGC he studied business
at Roehampton Institute,
London, England. He was
a Brother of Pi Kappa
Phi Fraternity, Delta Bata
Chapter and a member
of Foxtrot Company in
Army ROTC at NGC.
He went on to obtain
his teaching certificate
and Master’s Degree
in Special Education
at Piedmont College in
Athens. He received a
Gifted Endorsement from
RESA. He was employed
by the Jackson County
Board of Education as a
special education, social
studies and math teacher
at East Jackson Middle
School. He was also the
cross country and track
coach and the Electric
Vehicle Sponsor. He
was currently attend
ing the University of
Georgia working towards
a Specialist Degree
in Science. Dan was a
member of the Sanford
Men’s Cub, Classic City
Woodturners and Athens
Woodworkers. He was
an avid mountain biker,
hiker and all around out
doors man.
Survivors in addition
to his parents include
his wife, Leslie Stone

Anne Leuthner and Daniel
Stone Leuthner; brother
and sister-in-law, CPT
Scott and Amy Leuthner;
