Library seeks
donations
The Madison County Library
seeks donations to help offset
drastic funding cuts by the state
of Georgia, which has reduced
per capita spending on books for
libraries from 60 cents per person
in 2007 to 16.5 cents per person
in 2009 (that’s $12,000 less this
year than in 2007, or over 72 per
cent reduction in funding in two
years).
An anonymous donor has
pledged $500 to match donations to
the Friends of the Madison County
Library dollar for dollar, “so please
join or donate today," officials said.
Call the library at 795-5597 or ask
at the circulation desk for more
information.

Pet of the week
Madison Oglethorpe Animal
Shelter's pet of the week is
Calico, a “beautiful six-year-old
DSH with very unique mark
ings.” "She loves to cuddle and
be loved on,’ ’ shelter officials said.
"She was brought in because her
previous owner had to be put into
Assisted Living and the facility
was pet free, so we are trying to
help Calico find a new family to
show her affection to and help
a very nice elderly lady have
one less thing to worry about.”
Calico is already spayed, up to
date on her vaccines, de-wormed
and ready to ride, officials said.

“If you have a small spot in
your home and a large spot in
your heart, then come by and sit
a spell with this girl, you may
