ROTARY CONSTRUCTS RAMP FOR MEADOW
The Rotary Club of Madison County lost no time getting back to work after the celebra
tion of its 400th ramp. It completed a 4x4 platform and a 12-foot ramp last Thursday for
Ina Mae Meadow, who lives in the Colbert apartments. Meadow is 88 and has lived in
Madison County all her life. She has a bad heart, with a pacemaker, which has limited
her ability to get around. After she fell, she requested a ramp from Rotary. In addition,
her son, Dwayne, lives with her and he also can use the ramp. She was married to the
late Wiley A. Meadows (Pete), and all but one of her nine children are living. Workers
included Roy Gandy, Bob Anderson, Erwin Hardeman, Jerry Bond, Artry Bishop, Jim
and Sandra Jeffer, James Adams, Pat Quinn, Bob Padilla and Danny Hanley.

Farmers’ Market
Beeswax candles continue to appear
Happy Halloween to all! The Comer Farmers’
Market is still going strong and we appreciate our
regular vendors and shoppers.
Kathryn Miller's beeswax candles continue to
make an appearance and are always a charming
option. They fit well into gift baskets!
Dan Harris brought his famous honey to the delight
of locals and fellow vendors. His beekeeping classes
at the state botanical garden are a big draw. When
they are announced, register quickly. His classes fill
up fast!
We were glad to see Joe from Blue Moon Farm
join us with scallions, fatwood, radishes, herbs and
greens.
Jubilee Partners had beautiful greens and fresh
ly dug sweet potatoes. We support our friends at
Jubilee!
Master Gardeners are always welcome to come
and answer questions about the fall planting season.
Freshly baked biscotti, pies and breads will be
at the market this Saturday. There will also be an
attempt at taffy pulling for Halloween goodies.
Please keep in mind your friends, neighbors and
others in the community who might need help with
food. We hold a weekly food drive for ACTION
of Madison County. Check your pantry for extras.
Every little bit helps.
The holidays are right around the comer and the
Comer Farmers’ Market is a great place to pick up
locally produced goods for gifts for friends and fam
ily. We will be open through November and Dec. 5
— the day of the Comer Christmas Parade.
Halloween treats will be available to any trick-or-
treaters who show up in costume.
We welcome anyone who wants to buy or sell
locally produced goods. Please join us. Contact
Leslie Chandler for more information at 706-224-
2197. Thanks to all of our dedicated and regular
customers!
