•Berea Community Center
is hosting a local relay cen
ter for Operation Christmas
Child, a ministry to provide
a shoebox full of toys and
necessities to a needy child
in another part of the world.
Collection dates for the relay
center are Nov. 19, 6-9 p.m.;
Nov. 20 and 21, noon-7 p.m.
and Nov. 22, 1^1 p.m. The
community center is located
4.5 miles south of Commerce
on Hwy. 334 (take Hwy. 334
to mile marker 8). Any indi
vidual or group can partici
pate by filling a shoebox with
a few toys and basic neces
sities and delivering it to
the Relay Center. Operation
Christmas Child will then
hand deliver the gift with a
gospel message of the plan
of salvation in the child’s
own language. “Everyday
boys and girls worldwide
suffer from war, poverty,
disease and natural disaster,”
organizers said. “Operation
Christmas Child makes it
possible for millions of these
children to experience God’s
love through shoeboxes filled
with gifts by people right
here in Northeast Georgia.”
In 2008, with the help of
many caring individuals
and groups, organizers said
Operation Christmas Child
touched the lives of more
than eight million children in
over 90 countries.” For ques

cer of his vocal chord, church
leaders said and all proceeds
are to help cover his medical
costs. There will also be hot
dog plates sold.

Saturday, Nov. 21, from 5-7
p.m. Take out plates are $6
each and dine-in plates are $6
(ages 11 and up) and $3 (ages
