Mr. and Mrs. White
Pethel, White
wedding held Nov. 7
Kellie Randell Pethel and Westley
Allen White were united in marriage
on Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. at Homer Baptist
Church.
The bride is the daughter of Randy
and Cindy Pethel of DanielsviUe. The
groom is the son of Willie Roe and
Betty White of Blakely.
The Rev. Charles Crabbe performed
the double-ring ceremony. Special
guests were Mrs. Geraldine Adams,
maternal grandmother of the bride, and
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pethel. paternal
grandparents of the bride.
Music was provided by Art Stump,
uncle of the bride, playing the piano
and guitar. Ellis Bolton, cousin of the
bride, was soloist. A jazz rendition
of the 70's song, “We’ve Only Just
Begun,” was performed by Mr. Stump
on guitar and vocals by Mr. Bolton
as the bride and groom lit the unity
candle. Musician and songwriter, Pat
Coni, arranged the song especially for
the couple.
The bride was escorted by her father
and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white satin strapless gown
with a chapel length train. The gown
was accented with silver embroidery
surrounding the bodice and the soft
A-line skirt.
The fingertip length veil was
designed by Sheri Crane, family
friend. The veil featured a crown of
white rosettes and pearls, with silver
filigree accenting the edge of the veil.
The bride carried a hand tied bou
quet of white roses, baby's breath
accented with silver pearls. For some
thing borrowed, the bride wore her
bridesmaid’s pearl necklace and dia
mond earrings. Something blue and
old, the bride carried her late paternal
great-grandmother Anna Mae Bond’s
handkerchief.
Kaila McElroy, sister of the bride,
was matron of honor. Donna Kelley,
a cherished friend of the bride, served
as bridesmaid.
The attendants wore midnight blue
strapless taffeta gowns accented with
glass hand beadwork on the bod
ices with matching wraps. Carrigan
McElroy, niece of the bride, was the
flower girl. Ivy Mullis, cousin of the
bride, was junior attendant.
The groom chose his father to serve
as best man. Patrick White, brother
of the groom, was groomsman. Bob
Kelley, cherished friend of the bride,
was usher.
Benjamin Pethel, son of the bride,
served as ring bearer. Benjamin car
ried the ring pillow that was used in
the bride’s parents wedding. During
the ceremony, the groom presented
Benjamin with an engraved pocket
knife to commemorate the union.
Lacey Bennett, cousin of the bride,
presided over the bride’s book. Andrea
Turner, cousin of the bride, was wed
ding director. Alyssa Stump, cousin of
the bride, was assistant wedding direc
tor. Rachel Pethel, cousin of the bride,
was the wedding photographer.
Kevin Miles, friend of the family,
and Sandra Turner, cousin of the bride,
were the wedding videographers.
Following the ceremony, a reception
was held at Homer Baptist Church's
fellowship hall.
The wedding cake was a classic
three-tier cake with midnight blue rib
bons accenting each tier, featuring the
design from the bride’s wedding gown
in the butter cream frosting. The cake
topper featuring a waltzing bride and
groom and was designed by Sheri
Crane for the couple.
The couple enjoyed horseback
riding and sight seeing through the
North Georgia and North Carolina
mountains on their honeymoon. The
couple will reside in their new home
in Blakely.
Mr. Smith and Miss Scott
Scott, Smith
to wed Dec. 5
Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Scott, of Royston, announce the engagement
of their daughter, Jessica Brittany Scott, to Joshua Craig Smith, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Smith, also of Royston.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ms. M.E. Dudley, of
Royston, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dudley, of DanielsviUe, Mr. and
Mrs. Jessie “Jack” Scott of Hartwell and the late Gaynell Scott, of
Hartwell.
The groom is the grandson of James E. Smith, of DanielsviUe,
the late Sue Smith, of DanielsviUe and the late Mr. and Mrs. John
Edwards of DanielsviUe.
The future bride is a 2004 graduate of Franklin County High
School and a 2007 graduate of Athens Technical College with an
associate’s degree in paralegal studies. She is employed at the district
attorney’s office.
The future groom is a 2003 graduate of Madison County High
School. He is employed at the University of Georgia.
The wedding is planned for Dec. 5, 2009 at 4 p.m. in the afternoon
at the Royston Church of God in Royston. The reception will follow
at the Gathering Place. All friends and family are invited.

Sanford Men’s Club
to hold ham cook
The Sanford Men’s Club will hold its annual ham cook
Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Sanford Community Center.
Hams may be purchased for $45 each by calling Leo Smith at
706-549-1324 or any other member of the club.
Pickup time will be 1-4 p.m. All proceeds from the sale will
be used to support the club’s Christmas for Kids Program to pro
vide warm winter clothing to needy children in the community.
“If you would just like to make a much appreciated dona
tion, contact Leo Smith at the number above,” said organizers.
“Thank you for your support of this project.”
‘Santa’ to visit Colbert
Santa Claus will visit the town of Colbert on Friday, Dec. 4,
from 6-8 p.m.
According to organizers, Santa will arrive by fire truck at the
historic Colbert depot at 6 p.m. There will be hot chocolate
and snacks on hand as well as a photographer to take pictures
with Santa.

City of Comer
NOTICE OF PUBLIC
HEARING
The City of Comer City Council has proposed an amendment to
the City of Comer Zoning Ordinances concerning Special Events.
The Comer City Council will hold a public hearing on Monday,
December 7, 2009 at 6:00 P.M. at the Comer City Hall at 70 Hwy.
72 E. to take public comments on this request.
Anyone wishing to speak in opposition to this petition who has
made campaign contributions to any Comer City Council member
within the past two years must file a disclosure with the Comer
City Clerk at least five days before the public hearing as required
by O.C.G.A. §36-67A-3.
