Georgia State Patrol arrests 19 in county
The Athens Post of the Georgia State
Patrol made 19 arrests last week in
Madison County.
In one incident, a Hull man was
arrested by a Georgia State Patrol
trooper early Saturday at the intersec
tion of Hwy. 29 at Old Danielsville
Road.
William Blane Epps, 26, 1297
Garnett Ward Road, was charged with
aggravated assault on a law officer,
driving while license withdrawn, flee
ing or attempting to elude a police
officer, improper passing, improper
passing on a hill or curve, obstruction
of an officer and a probation viola
tion. He was booked into the Madison
County Jail.

Danielsville man charged with DUI
Sheriff’s dept, receives Tahoe
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department received
$34,000 in federal stimulus funds for a Chevy Tahoe
and six new portable radios. The Tahoe will serve as
the department’s K-9 unit vehicle. The climate con
trolled kennel in the vehicle will include an automat
ic door that can be opened to release the dog quickly

Two charged with
prowling at shelter
A Danielsville man was
arrested last week for DUI
and numerous other charges.
Nathan Eugene Sweaza,
25, 3248 Hwy. 98 West, was
also charged with failure to
appear (original charges:
suspended license and giv
ing false name), bench war
rant (obstruction of officer),
obstruction of an officer, driv
ing while license withdrawn,
taillights required and the fol
lowing bondsman off bond
charges: driving while license
withdrawn, expired registra
tion, too fast for conditions,
expired vehicle tag or decal
and remove or affix a plate to
conceal vehicle identification.

months confinement for
theft by receiving stolen
property.
•Adrian Brown, 28,
Commerce, was sentenced
to six months probation
and fined $472 for simple
battery. Brown was also
sentenced to six months
probation and fined $472
for harassing phone calls.
•Billy Monroe Hinesley
Jr., 33, Danielsville, was
sentenced to six months
probation and fined $135
for theft by taking.
•Andy Lee Moon, 27,
Hull, was sentenced to one
year probation and fined
$850 for false report of a
crime. A charge of mak
ing false statements to law
officers was dismissed.
•Jeffery Potts, 46,
Commerce, was sentenced
to one year probation and
fined $472 for theft by tak
ing. A charge of failure to
appear was dismissed.
•Rhonda Gay

N.C., was sentenced to
six months probation
for speeding and driving
while license suspended or
revoked and fined a total of

tenced to one day confine
ment, one year probation,
40 hours of community
service and fined $941 for
DUI. Charges of failure to
maintain a lane and endan
gering a child by driving
under the influence were
dismissed.
•Kyle Luvereman
Freeman, 18, Colbert, was
sentenced to one day con
finement, one year pro
bation, 40 hours of com
munity service and fined
$801 for DUI. Charges of
giving false information
to law officers, fleeing or
attempting to elude, driv
ing while license suspend
ed and no taillights were
dismissed.

Two people were arrested for prowling after deputies were
dispatched to a burglary in progress at the Madison-Oglethorpe
Animal Shelter.
Matthew Henry Williams, 21, 63 Dry Creek Road,
Danielsville, and Loren Avery Stratton, 24, 1378 Bullock
Mill Road, were charged with one count each of loitering or
prowling.
In another incident, a man on Brownwood Drive reported
that a man exposed himself to his neighbor’s wife and two-
year old child. He stated the neighbor has been having prob
lems with this person for several days.
In a third incident, a woman on Hwy. 29 North reported that
someone was threatening her on her Facebook account. When
the deputy arrived, she was still on her Facebook account and
was still receiving messages from unknown person(s) who
“threatened to kill everyone in the house” and appeared to
know a lot about the victim and her relatives, according to the
report. The victim stated she didn’t know could be sending the
messages.
In another incident, a Danielsville doctor’s office reported
that a patient allegedly altered a prescription for Ambien and
Phenergen and attempted to have the prescription filled. The
prescription was voided and the deputy said he had not been
able to locate the patient at the time of the report.
Reward offered in theft case
The Madison County Sheriffs Office is offering a $500
reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons
responsible for the theft of a golf cart at Sunrise Golf Club,
Colbert, on Nov. 15, 2009. The cart is a Yamaha model
(no back seat, has golf club holder) with serial number
JU0-303439. Anyone with any information on this theft,
should call Investigator Steve Kimbel at 706-795-6202.
