Safe teen driving website available
The Georgia Department
of Transportation has
launched a new resource
for teen drivers and their
parents.
The website — “Teen
Driving Safety 101,” www.
dot.ga.gov/teendriving —
is a “one-stop” information
portal providing informa
tion on driving laws, safety
tips and travel informa
tion to help teens stay safe
behind the wheel.
“Vehicle crashes are
the leading cause of
death among American
teens,” said Georgia DOT
Commissioner Vance C.
Smith Jr. “The department
is dedicated to reducing
teen crashes in Georgia,
and part of that mission
involves ensuring that
Georgia teens have the
information they need to
become safe, responsible
drivers.
“With school activities,
homecoming dances and
football games all on their
schedules, it is important
that teens and their families
be able to get the informa
tion they need quickly and
easily,” Smith added. “This
website, ‘Teen Driving
Safety 101,’ is designed to
provide teens and their par
ents a ‘one-stop’ site that
they can access with just
one click.”
The website was devel
oped in partnership with
the Governor’s Office
of Highway Safety, the
Department of Driver
Services, and Riverdale

Juvenile admits to
mutilating dog,
damaging property
A juvenile on Hawks Road reportedly admitted last week
to mutilating a neighbor’s dog and slicing the mat on another
neighbor’s trampoline.
According to the incident report on file at the sheriff’s
office, Deputy Jason Luke was summoned to Hawks Road,
where a woman there reported that the mat had been cut on
her children’s trampoline and that she suspected her neigh
borhood juvenile had done it. Another neighbor at the scene
told Deputy Luke that he suspected the same juvenile had
“cut her dog’s penis off.” The boy was spotted on the neigh
bor’s property on the day the dog was mutilated, according
to the report.
Deputy Luke went to the boy’s home and spoke with him
and his parents. The boy admitted to both offenses, accord
ing to the report and when asked why he did it, he reportedly
replied “I don’t know.” Deputy Luke told the family that the
boy was not to be off their property and was not to go on the
neighbors’ property.

soon as it gets dry enough to get below the dam to install.
We probably will go ahead and take the lake level down to
where we can check the drain pipe and gate valve while we
are working on this project. The EPD's Safe Dams has this
lake scheduled for inspection in mid-January 2010.
“The Hull-Sanford waste water treatment plant is com
ing along, despite the wet weather. We had to reschedule
the treatment plant equipment to begin delivery on Dec.
1. There will be several tractor-trailer loads of concrete,
tanks and equipment to be delivered during this week. The
underbrush is being cleared for drip system installation.
We are working on bidding and permitting the force main
from Glen Carrie Road to the treatment plant. We expect
to get started in January on this line and then it should be
completed within 60 days."
