Cioorgia I J rcss Association.
Tliis body mot in Savannah on the
10th ir.st. Taking our leave on Mon
day evening, the Bth, we joined Mr. J.
T Whitman, of the Dalton Citizen, as
he passed this place, and as the jour
ney was rather lengthy, we felt fortu
nate in securing the companionship cf
m clever a gentleman. Reaching Ma
con after a tiresome all night ride, wo
;et about to fill the interval of our
short stay here-by providing ourselves
?yitb a good breal fast f r which we paid
a good round price, aud took the train
early afterward for tho completion of
our journey. Tho appearance of the
country along the Central Railroad from
Macon to Savannah is likely to impress
a North Georgian. One lone stretch
of dreary looking pines, with an occa
sional succession of marshy low ground,
where cypress and magnolia mostly
grow ; though wo were told that off
the railroad is to be found —especially
in the counties of Washington and
Wilkinson —rich lands where flourish
a prosperous population.
We ro’led into Savannah at a con
venient hour and after a good nighpp
rest we joined others of the press gang
in a stroll among the wonders and at
tractions of the Forest City, in the
morning. We visited the City Park,
and found it as lovely as we had often
heard it represented. It has undergone
many improvements in tho past few
years and new should bear the title
of tho pride of Savannah. Were it not
for a lack of space wo would like to
Rvell a little on the attractive fea
tures but uiust hurry on with a passing
mention. In the centre of anew park
ground recently added Rands the Con.
federate monument, the nppropriat ness
if (he figures, representations, and m
eriptions, at once being impressive t M
the Southern heart. On one side of
the monument is the inscription, “To
the Confederate Dead 18G1—1865,"
and on the other one reads thus :
“Come from the four winds, 0 breath,
And breath upon these slain
That they may live.”
The Pu'aski and Green monuments
were then visited and a delightful stroll
over the many attractive stre s smn
brought the hour of convening and
on reaching the lnll ve found present
(lie largest assembly witnessed since tho
organization of the association Impor
tant matters in ralation to the press were
freely di.-cussed, Col. E-till and the
other (44 officers being reelected, and
the Convention adjourned for another
tiayfu ppjiiy a tide to Bonaventure and
Thui.(bwholt tendered by Col. Fstill of
tip Nov--. At B mavooture we were
gjypp a little time to view its beauties.
( jhe regular a venous with monstrous
jive oaks draped with moss wore a
mournful look and were looked upon by
those whoe first visit it was with wonder.
At Thunderbolt we were tendered re-.
f e lim n*in as many shapes desired,
including shrimps crabs, etc., which the
editors seemed to devour with a ke’n
relish.
Responding to a eoutteous invitation
of Col. Kstill, on Thursday after ad
journment the steamer “ Reliance ” left
the Savannah wharf with a full corps
of the press gang aboard for Tybee Is
land. A brass band accompanying sent
forth melody across tho waters and there
being many ladies cn board the trip was
rendered delightful. A sumptuous din
ner was spread and dispatched before
landing, and as our time was limited,
we hurriedly journeyed for tho west
end of the island by horse cars, where
we were treated to a view of the ocean
in sill its splendor, and occupied most
of the time wc had to stay in selecting
relics in the way of shells, etc. Re -
turning to Savannah late in the even
ing wc bad occasion to view and admire
sunset on the Savannah river.
We Jolt the city Friday morning feel*
ing, with many others no doubt.gratcful
to Col. Fstill for his hospitalities. May

Convention will be held in Thomas

The decoration at ilesaea cemetery

An Important Cure by Dr.
Tutt’s Expectorant. —We have
b“eu informed by Mrs. Williams, grand
daughter of Gen. Israel Putnam, that
she suffered for many years with Asth
ma, accompanied with great difficulty cf
breathing. Indeed, she says, it prevent
ed her from lying in a recumbent posi
tion, and often suffocation appeared ins
evitable, for which she used Tutt’s
Expectorant. The relief was so
great that she was encouraged to per
severe in its use until every vestige of
the painful disease was entirely remov
ed.
“We can not speak too highly of this
valuable preparation of Dr. Tutt, and
for the sake of suffering humanity hope
that it may become more generally
known.”— Christian Advocate.

Bradfield’s Female Regulator
—We have often read in the newspaper
qC the grand success of medical come
pounds put up at the North and else
where. Many of those medicines hav
had their day, and we hoar no more of
‘hem. Their proprietors have made
fortunes, not so much from the cura
tive powers and virtues of their mix
tures, as from the notoriety given them
by advertising, by which people were
made to believe ail the good that was
said of them. A preparation is now
popular and is known, as Bradfield’s Fe
male Regulator, put up by L. 11 Brad
field, of Atlanta, Ga., at $1.50 per bot
tle. Such is its curative virtuues, that
it has gained wide-spread popularity all
over the country where it has been
known and it is being introduced every
where. We are informed that immense
quantities of this medicine are being
sold in all sections of to South and
South-west especially in the city of
New Orleans and in Texas.
This much we say in justice to its
proprietors who is a gentleman of integ.i
rity and who would not engage in the
manufacture and sale of a humbug'—
