Anderson Elected Mayor ijy 185 majority.— Below we give the result of the Munici pal election which came off yesterday, and careful perusal of the candidates and figures will show that the regular ticket swept the field by a good majority. There were 2497 votes registered, (2089 whites and only 408 colored,) and 1780 votes polled, leaving 717 suffrage slingers, who either did not care to exercise that ri<rht, D / or perhaps lost their registration ticket, and thereby forfeited the right to vote, as no duplicates would be issued under any circumstances. The election for Mayor as will be seen was very close in deed, but is always the case when two such good candidates as Anderson and Cohen are in the field. The following is the re sult of the count: Up to the hour of going to press the managers of the election have not finished counting the votes for Aldermen. So we are unable to give the votes of the can didates. The following is the result of the •J vote for Mayor: E. C. Anderson, 987 Solomon Cohen, 802 Anderson’s majority, 185 Although the votes for Aldermen have not all been counted enough is known by what has been counted to warrant the statement that the regular Democratic nominees have been elected. Humpty Dumpty.— Remember that ‘‘Humpfcy Dumpty” *will be presented at our Theatre again this evening, and all who wish to enjoy a real hearty laugh should not fail to see Fox in his specialties. In addition to that, there are several very attractive features in the performance among them we would mention, the Rus sian Quartette, which is hard to beat; The Child Wonders on the Velocipede; The excellent gymnastic performance; all of which together with Fox's clownish antics and laughable tricks make an ex hibition well worth the price of admission. See programme on first page. It is stated that a general reduction of telegraphic rates will be inaugurated soon. BRYAN BROS., DEALERS IN Choice Family Groceries Cor. of State and Drayton-sts. %r .
