Dover, Tuesday, 8 o'Clock,p. m.
The report of yesterdar, of a
battle between the Prussians and
French, in which the latter were
repulsed, is farther confirmed, bv
the arrival of two pilots, one be
longing- to Deal, and the other to
Dover. They were both landed
here, yesterday, from the Texel,
which place they both left on Sun
day last. They had been both
put on board the guard-ship there,
and in the morning just before they
came away, a Newspaper was re
ceived on board, and one of the
Officers read aloud to them from
in, an account of the French and
Prussian armies having had an
engagement, and that tits French
had been defeated with verv grfcat
loss. They a! so mention a report,
that the marines had been drawn
from tlie fleet to send to the army.
RAMSGATE, October 14.
Earlv this morning, a trenien
donS firing was heard at this place,
supposstd to proceed from off
Boulogne. The sound was gen
erally believed to be that of mor
tars firing from the shore It is
probable, that another attack with
rocke ts may here been made, sim
ilar to tlie attempt made a few
nights ago. The guns were heard
exceedingly plain here, and the
loudness of ifie report awakened
many of the inhabitants. Tlie re
sult is not known.

and to engage in the African

Should the abolition of this
trade finally take place, the
petitioners are of opinion, that
it will put a (top to theprogrefs
of all new settlements, as the |
number of labourers will de

a tegular supply. It will be at

There ia a report upon the
Continent, of Bonaparte having
determined to make little Jerome
Bonaparte king of the Jews, mar
ry him to a Princes* of Wirtem
feerg, and fix him in Palestine,
giving him Jerusalem for hts cap
ital—this is said to be the motive
of his having assembled the Jews
at Paris—he is even said to have
concluded a Treaty with Turkey
upon the subject. This seems,
upon the first view, to be a wild
project—but it is difficult t< **y
what is too wild for Bonaparte to
attempt. We have ssen him ex
press no displeasure at a most
fulsome and impious address,
from a person, who hails him as
the Saviour of the Jews, and in
vites him to re-establish the Jew
ish Hierarchy and Government,
in all their ancient splendour, in
the Holy Land.
