From a sub. Tom.
He Takes Issue.
Athens, Ga., June 1st, 1908
Mr. Editor:—I seo in your last
issue an extract from “Savannah
News” on Missions, in which the
editor criticises the work of the
different churches, and it occurred
to me that he might have known
that the convention was not in
Savannah to search out the Heath
ens in their own town and if they
had said anything about the
Heathens in their ciiy as the edi
tor did the editor would have
given them a salty article about
getting the bemns out of their
own eyes, and I dare say the edi
tor from the zeal ho displays is
himself guilty for not telling that
little girl the story of Jesus and
his love for it Is the business of
all Christians to assist in this
work and not denond on just the
number of preachers that a poor
community can support, to carry
the gospel into every house, and
especially where they live in sight
of a church, and more especially
when father and mother have been
raised themselves and raised their
families in hearing of the church
bell. Fathers and mothers know
ing of Jesus and not telling their
children is no excuse for not send
ing the Gospel to those whose
fathers for a hundred generations
have never heard of Jesus the only
name given by which m6n may
be saved. There heathens do
teach their religion to their child
ren better than many Christians
do. Now let us do homo work,
but not neglect the foreign or
write anything against Jesus,
Mark 16-15. Yours,
M. H. Eakes.
