Tough Yarns of Kansas Doings.
At a Kansas meeting in Hartford, Conn., last
week, Seldon C. Williams, who had served in the
campaign with flu ford’s gang in Kansas, among oth
v er things, told the following horrible tale : *
“In one of the hellish forays upon which we were
sent, we came upon a small party of Free State men.
They resisted our taking away their property, and
!hford’s men left two of them dead upon the grass.
Wfo-n w e were in Shawnee county, we were invited
to cnli at one of the Mission Churches by the Chief
of the tribe. As the doors opened before us what a
sight presented itself! Three Massachusetts men
hanging by the neck, for daring to say that they
v-were for free soil, two had been shot,, and one stab
bed to the heart, and they were hung up to strike
terror to the people from th • Fast.
“Four days after one of Bufford’s men came into
the camp, holding upon the point of a bowie knife a
human heart. “Boys,” said he, “see here; here is
the heart of a d —d Abolitionist; he told me he was
an Abolitionist, and 1 up with mv rifle and dropped
him ; I cut his heart out, and it aint cold yet; now
I’ll cut it open, and see how it looks inside; then I
shall fry it and see how the d—d thing tastes.”
We hope our readers will receive the above ac
counts of a confessed renegade with all due allow
ance. Such horrible stories as these are manufac
tured for the Northern Fremont market.— N. Y.

Important Arrest.
Don Vicente Hernandez de Ayala, Minister Plen
ipotentiary and Envoy Extraordinary from the Re
publics of Venuezelo and Granada, Ac., was yester
day arrested by Marshal Mauray and Dep. Marshal
Scollick, on charges of forgery and swindling. Af
ter his arrest he made an attempt to swallow forged
drafts to the amount of $<5,000, but was prevented
by a prompt squeeze on the throat by the Marshal,
While Mr. Scollick drew the papers from his mouth.
He is a Spaniard, well educated, and a most ac
complished swindler, and many sufferers in New
Orleans will rejoice at his incarceration. Ilis detec
tion and arrest, on a very slight due, were most ar
tistically plannned and skillfully executed. —Mobile

Messrs. P. Davis & Son—Dear Sirs: The Karens
here, have become acquainted with j our medicine,
and their demand for it is to me very surprising. I
have now by me orders for more than fifty bottles;
I therefore wish you to send me a quantity, and I
will pay you through the Treasurer of the Missiona

high in the estimation the Karens of these provinces
as your Pain Killer, and I feel willing to gratify them,
as I entertain a very high opinion of its worth.
Messrs. Perry Davis & Son —I find it necessary to
address you again, as my most sanguine expectations
have b, cn more than realized. The call for your
valuable medicine is increasing so very rapidly- that
I fear 1 shall soon be unable to keep pace with it.—

Oxygenated Bitters.
From the Boston Daily Evening Traveler.
To Dyspeptic*. —We would call the attention of
those who are afflicted with this terrible complaint
to a remedy, w’hich, from the modest w T ay its merits
are set forward, might be overlooked by many. It
affords great relief, and is, in almost every instance,
a certain cure. We allude to the Oxygenated Bit
ters, s'-Id by Messrs, Seth W. Fowde A Cos., 188
Washington street. This is not heralded by a mass
of unmeaning certificates from persons unknown to
the public, but a few well chosen testimonials from
members of Congress, and some of our first mer
chants and city officers who have been cured by its
use, and whose names are familiar to every Bostoni
an, are a sure evidence of its efficacy. For dyspep
sia, debility, and weakness, it is a most excellent
medicine. It may he had at any of the apothecary
stores.

Dr. Herron having long received a liberal pat
ronage from his numerous friends throughout this
community, together with various calls from a dis
tance, begs leave to tender his thanks to ail whom
it may concern; wishing them to remember that he
continues at his old stand, near Penfield.
Having associated with him D. H. Herron, in the
practice of Medicine, in its various branches, is now
more fully prepared to attend to chronic cases at a
distance, upon the same liberal terms that he has
done for several years, namely : any person who be
ing afflicted with any form of disease, that will write
out their symptoms, and inclose therewith five dol
lars, and send the same to our address, will receive in
return, medicine and directions to suit their case, lor
one month. Many persons have been treated and
cured upon this plan, with a great saving to the af
flicted; some of them living from 50 to over 100
miles, numbers of whom we have never seen, while
we have had the consolation of meeting others after
their convalescence.
The undersigned has been closely engaged in the.
practice for more than 20 years, adhering strictly to
the use of sanative remedies which are used in the
Reformed Practice; having had much experience in
the treatment of female diseases peculiar to this cli
