Wonder Drug Breakthrough
for the Aged.
French scientists claim
that the periwinkle flower
can be used to stop, and
even reverse the aging
process of the brain. This
flower, being a common g
flower, being a common
garden plant, grows in
many parts of the world.
A new wonder drug known
as Vicamine, is extrated
from this flower. This
drug has actually ^rejuve
nated dying brains cells
and has successfully used
to control advanced aging.
Dr. Paul Coupan, Re
gional Director of Dausse
Laboratories in Toulouse,
France, claims that this
miracle drug can fight se
nility and eliminates diz
ziness, bad temper, loss
of powere to concentrate,
poor memory and fatigue.
He and his colleagues per
formed a nationwide test
in France on almost 700
senility patients. Over
70% of the people treat
ed with Vincamine showed
improvement.
On of the major causes
of senility is that the brain
cells do not receive the
amount of oxygen they re
quire , therefore, a degene -
ration process takes
place, and the cells be
come damaged.
Vicamine treatment re
juvenates them. In 1684,
a member of the French
Court discovered that an
herb tea made from peri
winkle flower eased mi-
grane. However, it was not
until 1956 that a Czecho
slovaks scientist prepar
ed a pure extract of the
drug. In 1962, scientists
finally had complete un
derstanding of its chemi
cal structure.
Clinical tests with Vin-
camine at Pourpan Hospi
tal in Toulouse, Frances
were conducted by a neu
rologist, Dr. Louis Arbus
and he openly has stated
that the drug liv v es up to
all claims made for it.
Dr. George Duche of the
French Convalescent Es
tablishment in Paris, used
the drug and claims that
nearly all patients bene
fited from it. Here in
America the drug is not
approved yet - but a lead
ing U. S Drug Company
is at presnet studying the
possibility of putting Vin-
camine of the American
market. If this comes to
pass, a bottle of 20 Vin-
camie tablets will cost a-
round $6.00, the usual do
sage being 6 tablets a day.
In considering the fact
that here in America
people suffering from
Geriatric probles
Geriatric problems are
either hospitalized or
tranquilized, Vincamine
therapy will cost far less
and do much more for pa
tients in the long run.

THE BARB • 7
Grandmother Tends Bor
Nestled in the neart of
the Scenic City, about a
block from the Choo-Choo
is a nice. gay. show bar
called the Powder Puff.
And the bar manager of
the Powder Puff is our
own lovely little Rita.
It's been said that Rita
should have been a social
worker and that statement
is true. Whenever Rita
sees someone in trouble,
she tries to help in her
own special way. And, be
lieve me, she’s helped a
lot of people.
Rita started bartending
about fourteen years ago
when she was putting her
self through nurses’ train
ing. After school, she
found that nursing wasn’t
for her, so she went back
to her work behind the
bar.
Born and raised in Day
tona Beach, Florida; Rita
has four daughters and
two grandchildren. She
hasn’t been gay but a little
over a year and there is
reason to believe that she
really loves Carol. What
brought her to the gay bar
scene? Kate did and her
biggest enjoyment is
watching female imper
sonators and getting to
know and. of course, help
ing those who cross her
path.
A true Capricorn, Rita
is set in her ways and she
enjoys reading detective
stories and sewing. She
also loves animals. She
has an English sheepdog
named Shag and a black
cat named Sosha.
So, if you’re ever in
the n e i g h b o r h o o d of th
the neighborhood of the
Power Puff, don’t look for
a little white haried old
lady behind
You will find Rita, though
and you’ll probably love
her as we do. Oh----by
the way—Rita is not a
bartender--she’s a mixo
logist.

Men’s Eves.” In keeping with
the clubs purpose of fostering

favorable ini-age to the
community^at large efforts are
being made to form a ‘76
Bicentennial Run. The play is
scheduled for April ‘75 and the
