I was very surprised to see you
writing again and I can’t say
enough of how much I’ve missed
you. Anyway enough of the
dramatic crap and all the other
words I was going to say. You
wouldn’t believe me. What i
want to ask is sort of personal.
Why don’t you ever smile?
Another question ; How many
days do you work-out. What kind
on foods do you eat?
You see Rod, I am 37 and am on
the “shit list’’ when it comes to
making out with other guys, you
know what I mean? I’ve putin ads
in all kinds of newspapers and
went the bar route and also
rapped alot ifT those rap sessions.
But, after all that verbal ex
pression, the‘ only conclusion
from all of this was doing a hand
job number by myself. You know.
I’m not “that’’ physically
unattractive, but maybe I should
start exercising. Do you think at
my age, I can accomplish some
improvement on my body?
I had a lover for 7 years, and he
left (it was expected) and after
that I started tq go out more. All
< the time I wou Id think about
“him.” Now it’s been 6 years and
I’m afraid I will get old alone, that
frightens me. Look Rod; I laid it
on the line with you and maybe
you can answer some of your
personal questions T asked you,

Why don’t I smile? You try
smiling when you are holding a
weight or lifting yourself in the
air for a few minutes so that the

exercise movement of you!

How many days do I exercise, 5
days a week, half a body a day. I
feel it saves time this way and get
the same results that I want if I

In Houston,, Texas, one of the
largest cruising areas has been an
area known as the Montrose
Circuit. The residents of this
neighborhood have formed an
alliance called the Montrose
Citizens Association consisting
largely of young professional
people who have relatively
recently moved into this area and
older persons who have lived in
this neighborhood for many
years. One of the original pur
poses of this Association has been
and continues to be the
elimination of the incidental
problems of the circuit which
consist of noise, traffic
congestion, honr honking, radio
playing and other similar
nuisances that result when
several tars are crusing in an
area of two square blocks, usually
in the early morning hours. From
the beginning the Association hjas
made it clear that in no way dries
their efforts to move the circuit
stem from any anti-gay feelings.
The group has contacted various
members of gay organizations
and has been assisted from 'fhe
beginning in terms of their initial
purposes, objectives and methods
of achieving those objectives. An
idea was developed, one that has
been used with other circuits tyith
these similar problems, . to j at
tempt to move the circuit: to
another area that is mojstly
commercial In nature, that is
larger and where there are [few
residents. For the past few wrieks
days a week. My complete
workout (the entire body) takes
about 2Vi hours. Of course one
has to enjoy doing this. Some
people say that I’m a masochist,
because of the severe amount of
pain involved in this kind of
exercising. They’re wrong! After
you’ve exercised as long as I have
you get used to the movements
and the rewards are great. The
masochist, enjoys pain (either
mentally or physically), there is
no “pain” during my workouts
only fulfillment and conquest of
accomplishment. You feel great
physically and mentally obtain
great satisfaction from your
results. Third question; My foods
mainly consist of a low car
bohydrate and high protein food
intake. Making it possible to
maintain my energy and body.
Now about yoursfelf Owen, you
put yourself down, for one thing!
I’m “on the shit list,” what kind
of an attitude is that! You know
your problem, you are mentally
becoming negative about
yourself. That will depress almost
anybody and second, physically
you should help improve your
appearance. You are the guy I
would take and show how easy it
is to improve your appearance.
I’ll bet you, if you did this, you,
would start to think «more
positively about yourself. It’s not
the answer to happiness; but
what the hell is! You want to
make it, than earn it. Exercise
your mind too arid body, think
positively. Your age has nothing
to do with it, it’s your mind that is
important, remember that friend.

buttocks, how do I firm them arid
tighten this area. I . eally have a

Tfhere is one exercise that i is
extremely good for this area. It’s
called the “.Lunge.” Place a
baijbell (light weight) behind your
neejk, on vour shoulders, arch
for|vard with your right leg and
strptch as far as possible, your
lefj leg should also be slightly
bent* and finish off on its toes. It’s
difficult to explain in writing as to
whit the movement looks like,
bull in a future article, I will show
thisj exercise in pictures and then
youj might understand how to do
this] very good exercise.
• D|o 4 sets of as many reps, as
possible. Do brie leg at a time.

What r is the difference in
exercising with weights for the
arms as opposed to chinning?
Dear Friend:
Using a weight for building up
of tlje bicep (upper part of the
arm) will give you more bulk as
opposed to lifting your body
“chihning” which will give you
definition. The reason for this is
that {weight progression will help
build up your muscles (adding
morq weight as you get used to
the Weight) and chinning (lifting
the {body) the muscles will only
tighten and growth will stop.
Sinc£ the weight your lifting is
your!own, no progression can be
achieved. Of course you can add
weight tp the chinning exercise by
putting a weight on your ankles,
thereby increasing your poun
dage. But usually one finds this
highly impractical so one tends to
use <the chinning bar only for
defilement.

political coalition of leaders of
several, gay organizations in
Houston, The Metropolitan
Community Church and Integrity
Houstop.

circuit, land the gay community,
much his been accomplished so
far and Imuch hope exists for the
futurri in this attempt to move the
circuit.
