GENERAL NEWS:
NOTEBOOK
a
Now that CHRISTMAS &
NEW YEARS EVE of 75 have
completely passed away, I can
only say goodbye and RIP. Not
otiy did we have the usual
holiday visitors crowding the
FRENCH QUARTER, but also
the annual FOOTBALL
iREAKS in for the SUGAR
BOWL GAME. It’s been
estimated that there were about
eighty five thousand people in
our town between th • dates of 21
DEC. to 02 JAN, 76. Tourism is
our 2nd largest industry, as you
may have gathered. I know a lot
of bartenders are happy to put
the old girl of 75 to rest and a lot
of bar owners dragged them
selves to the banks during the
madness, with a smile wider
than the Mississippi River
between New Orleans and the
Westbank at spring thaw in mid
March. Many others are
dragging asses for other reasons
too! Every now and then I have a
dream that PETER O’TOOLE,
dressed in the costume of the
angel from THE BIBLE, is sent
to visit the SODOM & GOM-
MORAH OF THE SOUTli, and
knocking on my door, asks
directions fpr die FRENCH
QUARTER, or NEW ORLEANS.
I always awaken before I get to
find out which one we are, and -
whether he wants to wrestle oi
not.
But before we put the ole
girl of 75 to rest let us just
mention a few events which are
now past history but which your
correspondent had die pleasure
to witness or share as follows:
DATELINE NEW
ORLEANS, DEC 26, 1975: At
about 8:30 p.m. in the yety heart
of the FRENCH QUARTER, a
small but history making dinner
party was hosted by Dale (Jackie
Kennedy) Triche, and friend
Rob. The menue was prepared
by a fabulous FRENCH MAID,
DOT, and served to a small but
selected collection of guests. The
two mysterious, but adorable
FRANCISCAN NUNS, who have
been appearing by popular
demand at many an elite NEW
ORLEANS SOCIAL FUNCTION,
were present of course.. NEW
ORLENIANS have just taken
SISTER TERACITA and SISTER
JORDANA to heart, and the
FRANCISCIAN ORDER is just
up in arms about the whole
affair. Among the other guests
served with much Gallic charm
were: THE CONTESSA DU
UPTOWN, whom I immediately
knighted, THE SCARLET
SYBARITE. The CONTESSA
was also kind enough to con
tribute a jug of GALLO
CHABLIS from her own ex
tensive uptown wine cellar much
to the delight of the gourmets in
attendance. DOT, THE
FRENCH MAID, had the most
marvelous dinner prepared
including an entree of JAM-
BALAYA A LA URSULINE (in
delicate consideration ,of the
nuns no doubt), VEGlES IN
BURGUNDY SAUCE, OYSTERS
MASKA, and of course
everyone had to try DOT’S
ASSORTED FRESH FRUIT
TARTS. ST. EDNA, GLEN
DORA, MISS CAROLINA FROM
THE ISLAND OF MANHAT
TAN, and yours truly agrreed
that MISS KENNEDY has
simply outdone herself. And to
top it all off, die good FRAN
CISCIAN NUNS managed to
coiiect a total of $4.39 for the
order. My only regret was in
arriving too late to see Rob
Hostess Dale [Jackie Kennedy] Triche, seated center, flanked on
left by two Franciscan nuns, Sisters Teracita and Jordana. Standing
in rear, your New Orleans reporter, Patrick Shannon III, Off to far

MIKE STARK AND
BRYAN had a fantastic NEW
YEAR’S EVE PARTY at their
apartment in the FAUBOURG
MARIGNY. section. Just about
every state in the union was
represented and the crowd
looked like a cast call for a
middle-FELLINI FILM. 1 can’t
name some of the well known
personalities who attended
because they were rather bitchy
when I mentioned THE BARB,
but there was a hell of a lot of
cosmological drag, glit clit bits,
early fifties drag, west coast
leather, and the jeans and army
jacket set, like me. Also a few
straights in some good early and
late MARDI- GRAS- TACKEY-
'TOUGH. I would say it was the
earliest pre MARDI GRAS
PARTY in NEW ORLEANS and I
was amazed at the spectacular
display of local fireworks that
could be viewed from MIKE’S
Huge wrap around second floor
balcony. It was a nice place from
which to drink in the new year.
There was so many other
parties and then we hopped
around the bars a bit. so I can’t
mention eveything. Just two that
seemed the best to me at least. I
did bump into a few people from
out of town, like the pretentious

above the roar at the BOURBON
PUB, “I’ve met just everyone
