Allied health professionals are becom ing increasingly dependent on computer applications in practically all phases of their work. Computers are used today in hospital and clinical business applications, patient care applications, and in diagnos tics and research. Health care practitioners are therefore challenged to learn computer skills. The intent of the course is to intro duce basic computer applications to per sons entering the health care field for the first time and/or to practitioners who are in need of becoming computer literate. This course will provide information needed to form a basic understanding of the role and responsibilities of a dental as sistant. Lab classes will be held at various points during the course at a local dental office so that hands-on experience may be obtained. These labs will include chairside assisting and instrument transfer, alginate impressions, temporary fabrication, cus tom-tray fabrication, x-ray procedures and infection control. Upon successful completion, students will be state certified and will qualify for entry-level employment at any state-approved nursing home. Students are required to take the school’s placement test prior to registra 1 - tion. This course provides entry-level training for persons desiring a profession in the EMT field. This 240-hour course is designed to prepare the student for a future in Emergency Medical Services, which usually means working with an ambulance service as a driver or attendant. This course has two components: 208 hours of class room time and 32 hours of clinical time spent on an ambulance route and at the hospital emergency department. Textbook and Liability Insurance required. Liability insurance may be purchased after the mid term examination through MGT for $61.00 per student.
