Gets A Taste Of Hollywood

Lights, camera, action!
Although these words are much
more common in Hollywood than
they are here in Georgia, Bob
Welliver of Elko has been hearing
them quite frequently lately.
The owner and proprietor of
Wellivers Carriage Service,
Welliver is currently involved in
the filming of a major motion pic
ture based on the life story of base
ball great Ty Cobb.
Entitled Cobb, the soon-to-be re
leased movie is now in production
in Cobb’s North Georgia home
town of Royston and features sev

equine and horse drawn vehicles, all

Telephone Industry Reports Funds
The telephone industry recorded
total operating revenue of $165
billion in 1992 reporting a 3.5
percent increase in business over
1991 (unadjusted for pice changes),
according to figures released today
by the Commerce Department's
Census Bureau.
Almost SB3 billion in industry
revenue—nearly two-thirds of all
revenue for local, long-distance, and
network access services-came from
non-residential customers.
Local service revenue—one
quarter of all industry revenue
increased nearly 6 percent to about
$42 billion.
"These figures," says survey
manager Tom Zabelsky, "clearly
indicates the importance of voice
and data communications to the the
business community."
Industry-wide revenue figures
showed:
•Long-distance revenue was $67
billion-more than 40 percent of all
1992 phone receipts.
•Cellular and radiotelephone
revenue for 1992 grew 34 percent
over 1991, to total almost $9
billion-while this was only 5
percent of all industry revenue, it
accounted for nearly 40 percent of
its growth.
Industry expense figures showed:
•Overall, industry outlays were
nearly $l4O billion in 1992, up 4
percent from 1991.
•Annual payroll approached $32
billion and accounted for nearly 23
percent of all industry expenses.
•Employer contributions for
Social Security and other
supplemental benefits rose to more
than $8 billion, more than 7
percent over 1991.
•Lease and rental expenditures for
the industry increased by nearly 10
percent over 1991 to more than $4
billion in 1992.

“There are a lot of 16 hour days,
wet and cold; hot and sticky; little

Services Offered By Mutual Funds
In addition to the benefit of
professional money management,
mutual funds offer a variety of
services, usually at no cost to their
shareholders. These services are
outlir-d in the fund's prosectus and
can mean lifelong investing
without ever having to sell your
fund or move from the mutual fund
group. Of course, to fully benefit,
you must understand and properly
utilize these services.
One common service is the
exchange privilege. If your
financial circumstances change and
you want to adjust your portfolio,
the exchange privilege allows you
to easily move your mutual fund
investment to another fund managed
by the same "family or funds."
Because of this service, it is
important to examine all the funds
offered by a mutual fund family
before you invest.
Another shareholder service,
called automatic reinvestment,
allows all dividends and capital
gains to be reinvested
automatically, providing additional
growth potential through
compounding. Reinvestment also
can be used to make automatic
monthly investments by
authorizing the fund to draw a
specified sum from your checking
account each month.

At the end of the year, funds also
