How easy it would be just to read over these verses with a so-what attitude expecting to soon get to the good part where God shows out! But wait ..God wants the church to see something here...don't rush and miss God's lesson. "Elijah Took Twelve Stones..." Why twelve? There were only ten tribes present. There had long since been a separating of the ways...ten tribes had gone one way and two tribes had gone another. What in the world could cause God's chosen people to split? In a nutshell, the same two things that are affecting us today...stubborn pride and convenience. It was easier in the flesh to give in to the system than to be true to God. The road away from God has clearly defined road signs: (1) Deception (2) Distraction (3) Dislocation, fiom God and family. It’s a gradual, well manipulated plan...one day we find ourselves in destruction and we are too proud to admit our mistakes...it's just more convenient to stay where you are than try to change. Friend, no matter where you are in life... God has a plan for you! In order to provide financial support to these and others, we depend on the citizens and businesses in middle Georgia to support this worthwhile evenL The date for the Dogwood Ball is drifted away; you may be a church member, teaching Sunday School, serving on the official board, yet feel separated from your right standing with God. Know this one truth: God is more concerned and cares more about you than what you have done. He loved you so much that He sent His Son to save you...He loves you so much today that you are still in His eternal plan. Twelve Stones. In spite of the separation, God saw His children united... God's provisions are for the entire family...united together...serving Him and praising Him as one! Remember when Joshua led the children of Israel across Jordon into the promised land...He sent the priests back into the river bed and they gathered Twelve Stones. Joshua built an altar and basically said..." When your children ask you...tell them." What this pastor is hearing Joshua saying i 5..." Tell them it would have been easier for Caleb and me to leave the ten unbelieving tribes 40 years ago...tell them that convenience often times cries to let the weak fall by the wayside...tell them pride demands that we build barriers to keep the undesirables out...but...God's plan is that we go together!
