Bom in Houston County, she was a retired sales clerk for the RAFB civil service. She was the daughter of the late J.M. and Ella Frederick and was a primitive Baptist Survivors: two nephews, Ronald Aycock of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Larry L. Aycock of Seattle, Washington; niece, Glenda Ruth Chilton of Quinton, Ala. Services: The funeral was held Friday. March 4, 1994 in the Watson-Hunt Chapel at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jim Shipley officiated. Entombment took place March 4,1994 in the Perry Memorial Gardens. George Gilbert George "Shine" Gilbert, of 718 Walcott St, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 1994 in a local hospital. Bom in Houston County he was the son of the late Charlie and Mamie Gilbert Survivors: brothers, Charlie C. Gilbert Jessie Gilbert and Walter Gilbert, all of Perry. Services: Were held Thursday, March 3, 1994 in the Richardson Funeral Home in Perry. Burial took place in the Rest Haven Cemetery. The Rev. Harold Ross officiated. The family may be contacted at the residence of Walter Daniels, 635 Howard St, Perry. Harriet Hentz Houser Harriet Hentz Houser, 85, of 803 Washington St., died Wednesday, March 2, 1994 in a local nursing home. She was the daughter of the late W.T. Hentz II and Sarah L. Owens Hentz. A native of Atlanta, Mrs. Houser resided in Marianna, Fla. until 1939, when she moved to Perry. She was a member of the Perry United Methodist Church, where she was a past member of the Susannah Wesley Bible Class. She was a member of the General Daniel Stewart Chaper of the DAR, a member of the Perry Sorosis Club and an honorary member of the Macon Writers Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Marion Houser. Survivors: four nephews, Wesley Bolin of Texarkana, Tx., Bill Bolin and Tom Bolin, both of Phoenix, Az. and Ned Hentz of Dover, Mass; niece, Carrie Hentz Ronga of Montclair, NJ. Services: Were held Thursday, March 3, 1994 in the Watson-Hunt Chapel at 2 p.m. The Revs. Elick Bullington, Guy Hutcherson and Dr. Marcus Tripp officiated. Burial took place in the Evergreen Cemetery. Marlin Edwin "Ed" Maiden Jr. Ed Maiden, 44, of 359 Langston Road, died Wednesday, March 2,1994 at his residence. A native of Harrisburg, Pa., he was the son of Marlin E. Maiden Sr. and Regina Messer Maiden of Youngstown, Fla. Ed was married to Bonnie Wilson Maiden. He moved to Houston County in 1967. Ed was a Marine Corps Vitenam Veteran and was employed with the civil service at Robins Air Force Base. While serving in active duty with the US Marines, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallentry and the Good Conduct Medal Ist and 2nd awards. He was a member of the "Road Rebels", a Firecracker volunteer at the Ga. National Fair for 3 years, and former President of the Humane Society of Warner Robins. Ed had many friends and will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Survivors: wife, Bonnie Wilson Maiden of Perry; daughter and son-in-law, Lori Maiden Simpson and Tyler Simpson of Perry; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Maiden Sr. of Youngstown, Fla.; sister, Earla Jean Dragon of Youngstown, Fla.; brother, Edward J. Maiden of Halafax, Pa. Services: Graveside full Military Honors will be held Saturday, March 5,1994 at 11 a.m. in the Perry Memorial Gardens. Oma Lou Fullmore KATHLEEN-Oma Lou Fullmore, 83, of 107 Roberts Road, died Thursday, March 3,1994 at her residence after an extended illness. Bom in Raleigh, N.C., she lived in Warner Robins for 20 years and in Kathleen for the past 5 years. She was a homemaker and a member of High Point Baptist Church in Macon and the Senior Citizens. Survivors: children, Jo Cummings, Patricia Jackson and Betty Hamlin, all of Macon, Hope Pittman of Kathleen, Dorothy Payne of Vienna, Joyce Chapman of Fort Valley, Brenda Crider and Clifton Fullmore, both of Eatonton, Albert Fullmore of Ocala, Fla., Randy Fullmore of Warner Robins and Julian Fullmore of Perry; sisters, Dessie Clanton of Atlanta and Pearl Todd of Claxton; 29 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Smallwood Jr. has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. During the six weeks of training the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Smallwood is the son of Jimmy Jimmy L. Meeting Place Changed For AARP The March meeting of the Perry Chapter of the American Associa tion of Retired Persons (AARP) will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church on Macon Road. According to Perry AARP presi dent Ray Bethune, the local chapter normally meets on the second Tuesday of every month at the Houston County Agricultural Building; however, because of a scheduling problem, this month’s meeting has been switched to St. Hospital’s EduCare Sets Busy March Curriculum EduCare, a service of Perry Hospital, recently released a list of March classes being offered. Medical Explorers Developed by the Boy Scouts of America, this class will be held for young people ages 14-21 to gain a greater understanding of vocations in the medical Held. Despite Rumor, Kellwood Plant Alive and Well Although abounding rumors of a shut-down of the local Kellwood plant have been fueled by some re cent lay-offs, a company official as sured the Houston Times-Journal Tuesday afternoon that the plant is alive and well. According to the source, the lo cal plant had hired some extra peo ple for a second shift just a few months ago in anticipation of an increased work load. When that work exhausted earlier than ex pected, however, the plant was forced to consolidate the shifts, re sulting in some workers being put on day shift and others being laid off. The source would not reveal the number of employees laid off, but did say that the second shift had only employed approximately 60 workers to begin with. All berries will be sold by flat with each flat costing $lO and containing 12 pints of berries. Improvements On Tap For Three Area Roads BY BRENDA THOMPSON Staff Writer Residents in South Houston County should soon have some smoother roads to travel, thanks to the Houston County Commission and the Georgia Department Trans portation. During their regularly scheduled meeting last Tuesday, county commissioners approved contracts with the Georgia Department of Transportation for a Local Assis tance Road Program (LARP) which will allow for improvement work to be done on four separate county roads, three of which are located in the southern portion of the county. All total, the southern projects will affect approximately four miles of county roadway and includes: •County Road Number 239, bet ter known as Barrett Road.
