That's A Promise?
The Atlanta Constitution re
ports that officials representing
Liberia and Nigeria say that
their countries will boycott the
Olympics unless the legislature
changes the Georgia flag or the
flag is not flown at all. With
an ultimatum like that
Georgians should act before
sundown to change the flag!
After all, these are important,
major countries we don't want
to offend. Otherwise, they
might turn down the millions
of dollars in foreign aid we are
sending them every year.
She's A Judge?
Some more news from
Atlanta: Fulton Countians re
cently elected a woman-
Josephine Holmes Cook-as a
Superior Court judge. She is
now being charged with forg
ing a document during a trial in
1989. Considering the corrup
tion the Atlanta newspapers
and TV stations are uncovering
there, she just might be one of
the good guys by comparison
with other political leaders.
What's all the fuss about?
Fat Lady Sings
The lady weighs 360 pounds.
She won't fit into any movie
theater seat. So she is suing a
theater in Cookeville, Tenn.,
under the 1990 Americans
With Disabilities Act. It's a
law that has cost businesses
untold millions of dollars to
accommodate just a few
people. It wouldn't surprise us
if the courts forced the theater
to spend a bundle of money to
install seats for the lady and
others who have ballooned to
gross proportions. Political
correctness nowadays
supersedes common sense
every time.
Yankee Talk
Tom Ebleu, obviously not a
Southerner, writing in The
Atlanta Constitution from the
Olympics in Norway said:
"Norwegians, like Southerners,
have something of an inferior
ity complex, and they seem to
need reassurance." Now really?
Only 'Yankees believe
Southerners have an inferiority
complex and that's because
many of them seem to have
superiority complexes!
But Will They?
The Food and Drug
Administration says it has the
authority under existing law to
virtually ban all cigarettes.
Citing evidence that nicotine
content in cigarettes make
them, in effect, a drug that falls
under FDA jurisdiction, a
spokesman for FDA all but ac
cused the tobacco industry of
encouraging a public addiction.
Now, with this power, will the
FDA take action to ban
cigarettes? It’s probably all a
lot of hot air.
Whose Project?
The 12-year-old middle school
girl was frantic. Her teacher had
assigned all students in the
class a project: Build a castle
and bring it to class. Clearly
she was incapable of doing it
by herself. Before it was over
several members of her family
became involved to build the
castle so she could take it to
class and be graded on it How
familiar is that story? How
much good is a homework
assignment beyond the capabil
ity of the student? And why
should students be given
assignments for their parents or
relatives to do for them?
No More Lines?
Proponents of a law to allow
sale of auto tags year-round
contend it will cut down on
long lines. They ignore the
willingness...yes, anxious
ness...of Americans to wait un
til the last minute and stand in
line. It's just the American
thing to do.
Not That Way
Quote Of Note: "Government
should be like a fire
department...there to put out a
fire, not start one."-Chuck
Harder, radio talk show host,
commenting on the federal
government's interference into
peoples’ lives.

Performers In the Verlety Show held at Kings Chapel last Friday Included Lauren Carter,
Laurie Meranda end Ronds Denton.
The teachers gave a “fashion"
show that brought much laughter
from the students, as well as the
adults.
This has proven to be a very
popular event and the program may
have to be expanded next year by
some means to let all students
interested in performing get on the
program.
