Westfield Alumni Council
Will Coordinate Activities
An exciting change at Westfield
Schools has been the recent creation
of an Alumni Council to coordinate
activities and events for the alumni
body.
Each independent school has a
unique body of alumni with special
concerns and interests. The best
way to tap those interests and ad
dress those concerns is by forming
a council of alumni to present ideas
to the school.
The members of the first council
include: Jimmy Beeland, Chesley
Cawthon, Snyder Chapman, Kay
Grier, Elizabeth Flowers, Cam
Hart, Nan Moore, Jon Pierce,
Buddy Roper, Rob Tuggle, and
Todd Walton from Westfield; Susan
Bennett from Baker; and Steve Lane
and Jan McCord from Beechwood.
Beech wood and Baker alumni
were included in the new council to
offer support to those whose
schools could no longer provide the
support service of an alumni
organization and to broaden the
Westfield association.
Officers for the council are:
Snyder Chapman, Chairman; Jon
Pierce, Vice-Chairman; Chesley
Cawthon, Treasurer; and Cam Hart,
Secretary.
The expectation is for the
Alumni Council to become the
agency within the school where
ideas for alumni events peculiar to
Westfield can be addressed and the
needs of its constituents met. A
primary goal is to establish the
most complete and up-to-date mail
ing list for all three schools. The
goal is for everyone who is
interested to begin receiving
mailings and newsletters as soon as
possible.
Additionally, the council will

That’s right, members of the
Perry High School student body and

Sponsored by the Perry High
School cheerleaders and coordinated
by Elaine Stephens, the show will
showcase the multi-talents of the
school’s students. Approximately
25 students are expected to bring
song, dance and plenty of comedy
to the stage.
Additional entertainment will be
provided by the Perry High Cheer
leaders, who will perform an ener
gizing dance routine, and the ever
popular John Simpson, the
school’s multi-talented custodian.
Simpson is expected to “bring the
house down” when he exercises his
vocal cords with a special song.
“This is a relaxed, fun, let-your
hair-down kind of event,” said
Stephens. “And, we hope everyone
will come out and join us.”
provide ideas for gatherings and will
be one force supporting the school
in the community.
As the Alumni Council begins
its operations, all alumni are en
couraged to be in communication
with members and to recommend
those programs that will meet the
needs of the alumni body.
