what you are dealt with."
_ Anchoring the pitching staff will
be Waldrip and junior Jason Britt.
However, Jones said the success of
the pitching staff could hinge on
one of his sophomores, Troy
Davis.
"He's (Davis) come on and
pitched in several games and has
done well in spots,” said Jones.
"Troy (Davis) will be one of those
guys we are going to have to de
pend on to get the job done for us.
It's tough for a sophomore to have
to do. But, I feel Troy can accom
plish it for us."
When the Panthers come in from
the field, Waldrip will be looked at
to provide the offensive fireworks
for Perry. "Dallas (Waldrip) is the
only mainstay we have," said
Jones.
However, said Jones, Waldrip
should not have to shoulder the of
fensive burden alone.
"Terry Yawn has come on and
shown great improvement," said
Jones. "He's gotten stronger. Tim
Allen, a sophomore, is swinging
the bat real well although he doesn't
have a lot to show for it right
now."
Jones added that Britt, who is
coming off a knee injury, would
also be looked at to provide some
offensive punch for the Panthers.
"Those four guys there," said Jones,
"we are looking to them to be the
guys who drive in and produce
runs."

Jones said it has played good de

lot of ballgames," he said, adding
that if the Panthers had been able to
come up with a key hit or two in
the Upson-Lee ballgame, they
