Houston Drug Action
Council (HODAC): A free
rape support group is now being
formed. The group will begin
meeting on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at
Houston Drug Action Council,

American Legion, Robert D.
Collins Post 24 meets the first
Monday night of each month at the
County Ag Building at 733 Carroll
Street. Meals are served beginning
at 7 p.m. All American Legion
members are urged to attend and
visiting Legionaries are welcome.
Support Group in the
Perry area for caregivers of
persons with Alzheimers idsease or
related disorders such as dementi
Parkinsons, Picks disease,
depression and others will meet
through March on Thursday
evenings at 7 p.m. in the Medical
Library of the Perry Hospital.
Their goal is to make a difference in
the lives of people with Alzheimers
and their families. A booth will be
set up April 2nd during the
Dogwood Festival in downtown
Perry to distribute information on
Alzheimer's and other disorders. A
Forum is scheduled for April 21.
All who are interested and concerned
are welcome to attend.

Children's Grief Support
Groups will begin the first week
in March for Children who have
lost a loved one to death. Groups
will meet according to ages from
Kindergarten and first grade through
teen years. These free groups will
meet for 6 weeks. Registration is

Members of the Sorosis Club met
Thursday, March 10 at the New
Perry Hotel for their monthly lun
cheon meting.
Betty Day, president, presided over
the business meeting and gave
tribute to former member Harriett
Houser who passed away recently.
Two new member were welcomed
to the club-Barbara Jones and
Evelyn Newberry.
Jones is the first second genera
tion member in the Sorosis Club.
Her mother, the late Gladys (Mrs.
Dudley) Jones, was a former mem
ber.
Jo Hunt, secretary, read February
minutes and Nina Harper presented

Library Program
On Watercolors

Valerie Whipple Craig of St.
David’s, PA, will present a pro
gram on Watercolor Designs to
Friends of the Library Wednesday,
March 30.
Mrs. Craig is the daughter of Dr.
and Mrs. Deryle Whipple of Perry.
She received her Bachelor of
Science degree from Georgetown
University and her Master of
Science degree from Catholic
University.
She is a member of the Baltimore
Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania
Water Color Society and the
Philadelphia Water Color Club.
Her water colors have been shown
in The Carol Schwartz Gallery in
Philadelphia, PA, and the Hang Up
Gallery in Doylestown, PA. They
are in permanent collections at the
United States Coast Guard,
Portsmouth, VA and United Bank
of Virginia, Norfolk, VA.
She has given one-person shows
at Side Porch Gallery, Fairfax, VA
(1990), Carol Schwartz Gallery,
Philadelphia, PA (1991), Slice of
Heaven Restaurant, Philadelphia,
PA (1992) and The Gallery,
Congregation Beth Orr,
Springhouse, PA (1993).
She has shown paintings at juried
shows since 1987, including Ocean
City Arts Center Invitational in
1993.
Honors and awards include:
Honorable Mention, South Jersey
Fine Arts (1989), Best in Show -
Watercolor: Avalon Art Show
(1990), Anna W. Clark Award for
