She is the daughter of the late Jobe. D. and Bessie Goodman and was a retired material manager from Robins Air Force Base. Frances was a lifetime member of Ladies Aux. Post 6686. Survivors: husband, AJ. Dupree Jr. of Eatonton; daughters, Carol Gidney of Perry and Lonieze Williams of Elko; step-daughter, Sandra Gail Long of Cordele; step-sons, Tim Dupree of Byron and Joseph Dupree of Americus; brother, Gus Goodman of Chiefland, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Services: Were held Monday, March 28,1994 in the Vining Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Burial took place in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Perry at 3 p.m. The Rev. Robert Cash officiated at Vining Service and the Rev. JJ. Morrow officiated at the Perry graveside. Deloria Powell Elizalde Deloria Powell Elizalde, 54, of 503 Stanley St., died Sunday, March 27, 1994 in a local hospital. Bom in Mcßae, she was the daughter of O.C. and Frankie Inez Hutchinson Powell. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church and has resided here in Perry for 20 years. Survivors: husband, Ramon "Ray" Elizalde of Perry; children, Janice Lynn McLean and Denise Dye, both of San Antonio, Tx., Bret Allen McLean of Mannassas, Va., Bart Ralph Dye, Grace Gonzalez, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver C. Powell (parents), all of Perry; step-children, Carman Julie Elizalde and Ramon Louis Elizalde, both of Caruther, Ca. and Brenda Campbell of Houston, Tx.; sisters and brother, Bernice Steimer of Buffalo, N.Y., Elaine Irby and James Powell, both of Remington, Va., Robert Powell of Macon; and 12 grandchildren. Services: Will be held Thursday, March 31, 1994 in the Freewill Baptist Church at 11 a.m. The Rev. Charles McNeese and Gerald Brown will officiate. Burial will take place in the Dodges Cemetery located in Telfair County at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 31. ROLEY Staff Writer Business travelers to Perry will soon find the approach to the Perry- Fort Valley Airport easier to find. The Federal Aeronautics Admin istration (F.AA) flew the new lo calizer last week, approving the signal. The localizer will be acti vated once the localizer approach is published by the F.A.A. The localizer, which cost the airport $285,000, shots a beam down the center of the runway, said Len Register, of Register Aviation, which manages the airport Using an instrument which picks up the beam, pilots are able to tell how far to the right or left they are from the airport The localizer approach pub lished by the F.A.A. tells the pilot the altitude he needs to fly to come into the airport Perry-Fort Valley Airport Au thority member Leon Huffman said the localizer would allow flyers to McClurg Completes Helicopter Repair Course In Virginia Army Pvt Mark A. Register added that the localizer gave the airport close to full in strument landings. "It brings us up to the standards people expect for business travel." Huffman said that unlike hobby flyers who could look out the win dow to see if the weather allowed flying, business travelers scheduled their trips weeks in advance. He added that many business aircraft cost $1,500 or more an hour to fly, making the 30 minute air trip from Perry to Macon very expensive. "It may cost them an extra $1,000," he said to have to fly from Perry to Macon because of bad weather. "Businesses use the airport a lot," said Register. Register said the Perry approach should be published in the next two weeks to two months. Adams was sworn in for his first full four-year term. He had filled an unexpired term just prior to this appointment. Rucker was reap pointed for another four-year term. Jim Peak, Hospital Administrator, gave the authority a tour of the new lobby, Surgery, three labor rooms and the delivery room. At the meeting on March 23, the authority was told that a general contractor for construction man agement for the Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Post Partum project is being hired. That contractor is Hinson Building Corporation out of Macon. Hinson is the contract manager that will be working with an architect in design and detail work of the project. All sub-con tracts will still be competitively bid. The authority also approved Perry Hospital’s re-organization of the re porting responsibilities within the hospital. Perry Hospital has approximately 25 departments; some one-man types, some two departments han dled by one person, and some large. For instance, there are 50 RNs, full-time, part-time and PRNs; 14 LPNs and 52 nursing assistants, for a total of 126 in that department. Over 200 employees, full and part time and PRNs are employed, con tributing to the physical and eco nomic health of our community.
